The Williston and Gunnery football teams will renew their rivalry on Saturday October 8th at 7:00pm on Sawyer Field as they battle for the Ogden Miller Cup. This year’s game will be the 33rd overall in the series and the 27th played for the cup. Williston leads the overall series 17-15, though the battle for the cup is tied at 13 wins each.

Below is some information about the Ogden Miller Cup and the scores of all the games in the series between the two schools. 

The Gunnery and Williston Northampton have competed in football since 1979 with the Ogden D. Miller Cup being awarded to the winning team since 1985. The Cup honors Ogden D. Miller who graduated from Williston Academy in 1926. Miller was a Williston Trustee from 1936-1954, and then served as The Gunnery Headmaster from 1945-1969. In 1985 the idea to play the Gunnery-Williston game for the Miller Cup was created by three parties: Nancy Lemcke, a Williston Dean who, with her late husband, served as faculty under Oggie Miller at The Gunnery; Michael Eanes (and his wife Susan), who also served under Mr. Miller at The Gunnery and was The Gunnery Headmaster in 1985; and Denny Grubbs (and his wife Debby) who began his career under Mr. Miller at The Gunnery before becoming Williston’s Headmaster in 1984.
