Runners Excel, Field Hockey & Soccer Lose in Semifinals

describe the imageOn Saturday at the NEPSTA Cross Country All-Star Meet both Williston runners had outstanding races. In the girls race Devon Greenwood ’13 finished 10th of 51 runners with a time of 19:54 on the 5K course. On the boys side Andy Pierce ’13 ran a time of 17:18, which placed him 12th in the field of 42 runners.

Also on Saturday, both varsity field hockey and boys varsity soccer came up short in the their respective NEPSAC semifinal games. Playing at Phillips Andover the field hockey team fell to Middlesex by a 4-0 score. The Wildcats generated many offensive opportunities throughout the game, but were unable to cash in on any of their chances. Middlesex led 2-0 at halftime and extended that lead late in the game. The team finishes the season with a 13-4 record.

The boys soccer team fell behind 1-0 just 30 seconds into their game at Brooks School. The Wildcats evened the score in the 25th minute on a goal by senior captain Jon Bzdel. Brooks regained the advantage 15 minutes into the second half of play and was able to hold Williston off the board for the remainder of the game. The Wildcats finish the season with a 9-4-3 record.
