The George Denman Award and the Alumnae Award are presented to a senior boy and girl for general excellence in athletics, with emphasis on good sportsmanship and helpful spirit.

The Denman Bowl was awarded to Daniel Rowe.

Rowe, who will attend the University of New Hampshire, distinguished himself during his four years as an athlete at Williston. A football player in the fall, Rowe was a three time All Colonial League player and the first Williston player in the past 12 years to earn All New England honors both as a junior and senior.

His competitiveness, positive energy and love of football were a huge part of the team’s success during the past three years. He captained the varsity boys basketball team for the past two years and brought terrific leadership and intensity to the team.

During the spring, he had a tremendous career on the track and was one of the finest sprinters Williston history. As a junior, he was runner up in the 100m dash and in his senior year became New England champion in the 100m. He was runner-up in the 200m dash and tied the school record. He is widely considered by his coaches as a tremendous competitor, an unselfish teammate and a wonderful ambassador of our athletic program.

The Alumnae Bowl was awarded to Bridget Instrum.

Instrum, who will attend The Ohio State University in the fall, distinguished herself during her four years as an athlete at Williston.

Instrum made the switch from soccer to field hockey during her sophomore year.  She went on to have a tremendous career in field hockey and finished as the school record holder in goals scored in a season and career. Her outstanding play led the team to three tournament appearances and garnered her All New England recognition.

She was a tremendous contributor to the girls ice hockey program for four years. Instrum was also a two-time lacrosse captain, three-time NEPSAC all star, three-time team MVP, the all-time leading scorer, and last year was named an All American.  The team compiled a 45-3 record in the four years that she played.

While her athleticism is certainly exceptional, her positive spirit, love of competition, and her wonderful drive to excel have been equally important to her considerable success in our athletic program.
