Athletes of the Week – December 2nd

BARRAAlicia Barry ‘14

Alicia had an assist on the game tying goal in the team’s season opener against Millbrook School.  Alicia showed great composure defensively and definitely got the offense started by skating the puck into the offensive zone.  Her strength, confidence and talent was apparent every time she was on the ice against Millbrook.

LIZKevin Li ‘16

Kevin sealed the victory for boys varsity squash in the deciding match against St. Mark’s on Wednesday in the team’s season opener. After winning game one, then losing games two and three he had to win games four and five to give Williston the win. At the Hopkins Tournament on Saturday Kevin competed again at number five against three other schools and won two of the matches, helping Williston place 4th place out of eight teams.

ANEErin An ‘15

Erin competed in her first wrestling match and had one of the most thrilling and inspirational matches of the day as she came from behind to beat her Hopkins opponent 12-6. Everyone in attendance was riveted as she scored time and again and sealed her victory. To be able to step into the varsity lineup and win such a big match is awesome. She used a winning smile along with a lot of physical and mental toughness to go 3-0 on her very first day of wrestling matches!

GRIFJJames Griffin ’16

James has worked extremely hard all season to catch up to some of his more experienced teammates. He won a thrilling victory over a seasoned opponent from Suffield by pin, and was a perfect 3-0 on his very first day of competition. James showed perseverance and a positive attitude. Those attributes define his work all season!

Led by Coaches Greg Tuleja, Michelle Lawson, and Jane Lucia, Williston girls cross country had a terrific season and finished with a record of 10-2.  As usual, the team enjoyed wonderful team spirit as 34 girls participated. According to Coach Tuleja, highlights included closely contested wins over Division 1 opponents NMH and Miss Porters, and a great late season race at Suffield in which the team defeated four out of its five opponents.  This was only the second time in history that the team achieved double figures in victories with its 10 wins.
