Athletes of the Week – May 9th

cavanaghCody Cavanagh ‘17

Cody has been a big part of the boys’ varsity baseball teams’ success this season. On April 30th, he hit two home runs against Pomfret, which sparked a flurry of great at bats.  Since then, he has continued to hit well and play good defense.  He is currently second on the team with a .387 average and leads the team in runs scored with 12. Cody has a tremendous work ethic and sets a great example for his teammates.

 

 

 

sullivanTara Sullivan ’16

Tara has played an important role in the success of the girls’ varsity lacrosse team all season long. Game after game she has come up with big saves as the team’s goalkeeper. Tara comes to practice and works to get better every day. Last Saturday against Choate, Tara was outstanding in the team’s narrow 10-8 victory.

 

 

 

 

 

chenHenry Chen ‘16

In the last three meets, Henry has improved his 110m high hurdle time in each of the team’s first three meets. Henry remains unbeaten on the season at this distance. He is still improving in form and speed, and the team will look to Henry to make an impact at the New England Championships. Henry has also had a stellar season in the 300m intermediate hurdles, and will look to continue improving there as well.

 

 

ryanAlexis Ryan ’17

Alexis set a new school record in the discus on Saturday, with a throw of 109′ 0″. This broke a record that had stood for 28 years. The Wildcats’ will look to Alexis to be a major contributor at the New England Championships in two weeks. In addition to the discus, Alexis placed second in the javelin with a throw of 95′ 9″ and third in the shot put with a toss of 30′ 7″.

 

 

 

janochaMike Janocha ‘18

Mike has been the catalyst for the boys’ jv lacrosse team’s success this year. He has made a habit of making huge saves at key moments of every game.  On Saturday, under a drizzly, steel gray New Milford, CT sky and captaining a skeleton crew with only one sub, Mike made 15 saves, each one more impressive than the next.  In addition to his play, Mike has shown character and pride throughout the entire season.

Marielle has been a positive presence on the girls’ jv lacrosse team this spring. On Saturday, she scored two very important goals in the team’s big win against Choate. Marielle is hard working and respected by her coaches and teammates, she is a team leader on and off the field.
