Athletes of the Week

 

Soma Mizobuchi ’17- Boys Varsity Soccer

Soma has been an engine in the midfield for the boys varsity soccer team this season. He has covered more ground than any other player on the team. He has been involved in breaking up the opponents’ attacks and he has been able to burst forward, getting himself in dangerous scoring positons. Against Salisbury this past Wednesday, Soma opened the scoring for the Wildcats.  Soma had another great game for the Wildcats against Deerfield on Saturday, where he helped create many dangerous scoring opportunities and played for the entire 90 minutes against a very physical opponent. Soma continues to set high standards every day in practice and pushes his teammates to be at their best.

 

Natalie Aquadro ’17- Girls Varsity Cross Country

Natalie has been a big contributor to the girls varsity cross country team all season. This past Saturday, racing against 84 athletes Natalie placed 6th. In addition to her scoring and her high place finish, she also ran a personal best of 20:26. This time places Natalie 10th on the Williston Northampton School girls cross country Honor Roll. In addition to her stellar performances, she has also led by example for the Wildcats as her work ethic is second to none.

 

Derek Zewinski ’17- Varsity Football

Derek has been a strong contributor to the varsity football team this season as a senior captain. He had his strongest performance of the season for the Wildcats on Saturday night against Salisbury.  On defense, he had 8 tackles, a sack, an interception, and several quarterback hurries. Derek leads his team through example, working to perfect his craft every day and by exemplifying a never surrender attitude.

 

Maura Holden ’19- Girls Varsity Field Hockey

Maura has been an impact midfielder this season for the girls varsity field hockey team. She has been a big part of the team’s success, controlling the transition game and working the ball from side to side.  She is an athletic competitor, always pushing the pace of the play and never tiring.  Maura has been a part of the wildcat defensive line in the past, but recently has been challenged with a more offensive role and she has responded with poise!

 

Tyler Greenwood ‘17- Boys Varsity Cross Country

Tyler has been a big part of the boys cross country team’s success all season.  He finished in 16th overall in the Shaler Invitational with a time of 16:53 and this past Saturday he finished 3rd overall out of 105 runners in 16:52 moving him to 12th on the Williston boys cross country Honor Roll. In addition to his contributions to team scoring, Tyler has been an exceptional leader of the team this year.  He works hard every day pushing himself and his teammates with a wonderfully positive approach.

 

Julia Farnham ’20- Girls Varsity Soccer

Julia has stepped up big for the girls varsity soccer team this fall. As a freshman playing in the center of the field, she plays strong and smart. She has been a key player for the Wildcats all season and played hard against a strong Loomis team this past weekend. Julia’s determination provides a positive example for everyone on the team.

 

Ben Normandin ’19 – JV Football

Ben played a critical role in Williston’s JV football’s win over Eaglebrook on Wednesday.  He returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, was the foundation of the defense at middle linebacker, was the leading tackler, and stepped in at quarterback in the third quarter when the starting quarterback got injured.  The offense did not miss a beat with Ben at quarterback, even though he had never played the position before.  Ben had a number of long runs and even threw a touchdown pass to lead the team to victory.

 

Jade Chan ‘19- Girls JV Volleyball

Jade has been a strong player for JV volleyball all season.  On Saturday she was at her most dynamic. Jade served strongly and helped us gain 12 points in a row to bring us within 2 of Ethel Walker.  Jade is not only a very skilled player, but her positive attitude is contagious as she helps to create a very competitive yet fun atmosphere.  Jade sets a wonderful example for her teammates on and off the court.

 

Luke Po ‘20 –Boys JV B Soccer

Luke has been a valuable asset for the Wildcats JV B soccer team this season. He has made excellent use of his practice time and has developed into a very effective defender.  Luke is regularly frustrating to many potential scorers as he outhustles anyone who tries to penetrate his zone.  Luke helps keep his team in many games and his work ethic is contagious to the other players on the squad.

 

Chris Ramirez ‘19 – Boys JV A Soccer

Chris has had a great season for the boys JV A soccer team this season. Last week Chris continued his strong play for the Wildcats by scoring the game winning goal against Deerfield Academy. Chris has exemplified dedication, hard work and enthusiasm all season and his attitude is infectious.
