Abbie Coscia ’19- Girls Varsity Basketball

Abbie has had a great season for the varsity basketball team. Against Suffield on Wednesday, Abby came off the bench and was the team’s second leading scorer with 9 points. She also had 5 strong rebounds, and was the competitive fire the Wildcats needed to keep momentum going during the game. Against Cushing on Saturday, Abbie again continued to battle and showed tremendous tenacity. She pulled down several key rebounds, made two key steals, and made strong efforts to get to the net. Abbie leads by example through her hard work and intense play and will continue to be an asset to the team.

 

Matt Channell ’17 – Varsity Wrestling

Matt has been a strong presence for the varsity wrestling team this season. On Saturday he went 4-0 with 2 pins and 2 forfeits on the day.  His come from behind pin victory against his WMA opponent was the inspirational match of the day and put an exclamation point on a dominant team victory. Matt is a consistently hard worker who has bounced between 160 and 170 pounds as the team has needed him.  He is always positive and cheerful no matter how hard he is worked, and he always demonstrates the absolute best sportsmanship.

 

Jonathan Toth ’20 – Boys Thirds Basketball

Jonathan has played great for the thirds basketball team throughout the season. Not only has he been the leading scorer in almost every game, but he has been a fantastic teammate as well. He does a great job of getting us into our sets on offense and works very hard on defense. He provides a positive example for his teammates by always hustling and working hard regardless of the score.

 

Jade Chan ’20 – Girls JV Hockey

Jade is playing hockey for the first time this season and took on the position of goaltender for the JV hockey team.  She bravely stepped up, found her mental toughness, and did a great job in both the Wildcats 4-1 win against Berkshire on Wednesday and in the 3-0 loss against a strong Westminster team on Saturday.  Her strong desire to learn the position, perfect drills, and step out of her comfort zone has served her and her team well!

 

Alex Bzdel ’17 – Boys Varsity Basketball

Alex has been a major contributor to the varsity basketball team thus far this season. He has been both a spark plug off the bench and a senior leader for the Wildcats. In last week’s wins over Gunnery and Loomis Chaffee, Alex impacted the game by making a number of “winning” plays with his hustle and extra effort.  He made a game changing play in the second half against Loomis corralling an offensive rebound and scoring a huge basket. Alex’s selfless, team oriented approach has been a huge asset to the team’s success all season.   His consistent effort in practices and games makes him a great role model for his peers.

 

Nat Markey ’20 – Thirds Squash

Nat has started his second season with the thirds squash team very well. Last week he won his first two matches against Eaglebrook and Bement respectfully, winning each of the matches by more than five points for each of the three sets against his opponent.  Nat demonstrates sportsmanship during practices when he often helps lead warm-up exercises and provides leadership through his work ethic and fair play.

 

Hoang Dang ’19 – Boys Fourths Basketball

Hoang has been a consistent asset to the fourths basketball team all season long. He led the team in points during the first two games leading the way to a 2-0 record. Beyond his ability to score, Hoang has a positive attitude and leads by example. He rebounds consistently and has a “never surrender” mindset. Hoang is always in the right place at the right time and knows how to get his teammates equally involved in the play.
