Starzyk ’13 Sets New Girls Hockey Record

Alexandra Starzyk had no idea why Athletic Director Mark Conroy was calling her name during assembly. The varsity ice hockey player knew that she had done well over the course of her senior season, but had no idea that in the course of the season she’d also set new school records.

So, when Mr. Conroy announced that Ms. Starzyk had reached a career 100 goals—something only three girls had done before—and, at 119 goals, was the new all-time leading scorer, she was amazed.

“I had no idea I was on my way to reaching 100 goals,” Ms. Starzyk explained later via email. “Until they called my name in assembly, I was unaware I held the record for most points by merely one.”

Williston Swimmers Impress at NEPSAC Division II Championship

It was an impressive weekend for the Williston swimmers as they competed in the NEPSAC Division II Championship at Wesleyan University. There were incredible swims across the team, and almost every swimmer had significant drops in time.

Eighth grader Natalie Aquadro won a Division II title for the second year in a row, setting a new record in the 100 breaststroke, and finishing third in the 500 freestyle. It was a terrific day for all the Middle Schools, including Natalie. Maya Soley ’18 and David Fitch ’17 both placed in the top three in their respective events, and Calvin Frye ’16 ended the day with two fourth place finishes, including one in the 200 freestyle after dropping an amazing six seconds. Samantha Frye ’13 finished third in the 100 breaststroke.

Equestrian Program Has Successful Fall Season

Congratulations are in order for five dedicated Williston students who participated in riding at Fuller Horse Farm in Westhampton this fall!

Samantha Frye, Alyssa Cote, Olivia Foderaro, Rachel Lloyd, and Regina Ryjih represented Williston in IEA (Interscholastic  Equestrian Assoc.) competitions throughout New England.

Riding at Williston requires a special effort to include early morning rises (5:00 am!), staying late at shows in all kinds of weather and giving up the occasional vacation day. Carolyn Fuller Coggins, the equestrian coach said, “This was the first season for this group to ride together as a team as members of the IEA. They were an active and invested group, being highly supportive of each other and working hard, going the extra mile to excel and improve. I have truly enjoyed working with them. Congratulations on a very successful fall season.”

The results of their fall competitions are below.
