Athletes of the Week – Feb. 20th

Natalia has enjoyed an outstanding season for the girls varsity basketball team. Natalia leads the team in scoring and last week netted 17 points last week in games against Cheshire and Taft. On Wednesday she scored a career-high 33 points against Miss Porter’s, the most by a Williston player since 2002.

Last week Keegan scored a career-high 22 points against Loomis Chaffee and followed with 12 points and 12 rebounds in the team’s win over Westminster. Keegan has been both a defensive force and an offensive threat, to help the squad remain competitive throughout their challenging schedule.

 

Rosie Lacas ‘14
Rosie has had an outstanding season as the goalie for the girls’ jv hockey team. In the past two weeks Rosie has given up just a single goal in each of the team’s last four games as they have defeated Cushing, Loomis and Northfield Mt. Hermon.

Athletes of the Week Feb. 13th

Kathryn has been an outstanding leader and consistent contributor for the girls’ hockey team. Last week in the team’s game against Kimball Union Kathryn scored 2 goals and 3 assists in the team’s 5-2 win. During that game she scored the 100th point of her career becoming only the second girl to reach that milestone in the program’s history.

Tim Keegan ‘13
A goalkeeper for the boys’ varsity hockey team, Tim has been instrumental to the team’s success during the past two weeks. Tim recently averaged 30 saves per game as the team beat Milbrook 2-1, Loomis 6-2, and tied Northfield Mt. Hermon 3-3.

Nick Hill ‘17
Nick made an incredible comeback in his match against Eaglebrook last week to win in the fifth game. Nick has shown a tremendous amount of perseverance in his matches throughout the season, while displaying positive energy and consistency in his leadership.

Kathryn Tomaselli ’12 Scores 100th Point

DSC 0022tomaselliSenior Kathryn Tomaselli became the second Williston girls’ hockey player to reach the career 100 point mark in the team’s 5-2 win over Kimball Union Academy on Saturday. Tomaselli entered the KUA game with 96 points and finished the day with 101 as she had a hand in each of the Williston goals, scoring twice and assisting on the other three. Tomaselli has reached that plateau in just three years, while MacKenzie Lee ’08 reached the mark in four years and finished her career with 118 points. Tomaselli plans to attend Union College and will continue her hockey career there.

Athletes of the Week – Jan. 30th

David has been playing solid squash for the boys varsity team this season sporting a team best 6-2 record. Last week he defeated opponents from Hotchkiss and Suffield. David has a great work ethic and is a great teammate both on and off the court.

Miranda has been outstanding in goal for the girls varsity hockey team this season. Last Wednesday she earned a shutout in the team’s 4-0 home victory over a solid Taft squad.

 

Ben Sarat ‘14
Last week Ben’s positive energy and clutch play helped the boys’ third basketball team erase a 10 point deficit against Suffield in an exciting comeback win. Ben scored 10 points with 5 rebounds and 2 assists in the game.

Athletes of the Week – Jan. 23rd

Anthony is off to an outstanding start to the season for the boys ski team. He has been Williston’s top finisher in the team’s last two races. Coach Latham continues to be pleased with Anthony’s work ethic and drive to improve.

Ashley has shown great improvement in her last two meets for the girls’ varsity swim team, dropping over 20 seconds in her last two races, Ashley had her first varsity victory winning the 500 freestyle against Kent and also had a close second place finish in the 200IM.

 

Abbie Foster ‘16
Abbie has been a tough competitor for the girls jv squash team. In her last three matches she defeated girls from Westminster, Loomis Chaffee and Suffield. “Abbie is the kind of competitor that rises to the occasion” says coach Choo.

Athletes of the Week – Jan. 16th

Ole had a big week for the boys’ varsity hockey team scoring 2 goals and 2 assists in the team’s  6-1 win over Worcester, and another clutch goal in a close game against Berkshire. Ole is always a positive force for the team and his consistent effort has made him an important contributor to the team’s recent success.

Alicia has been playing very well for the girls’ varsity hockey team. She is a constant threat both defensively and offensively for the team. Last week Alicia scored 3 goals in the team’s wins over Berkshire and Gunnery. Alicia is positive and hardworking each day, which has helped the team get off to a solid start to the season.

 

Tiger Liu ‘14
Tiger has been a consistent contributor for the boys’ third basketball team. Last week Tiger scored 18 points with 16 rebounds in the team’s win against Berkshire and then followed that with 21 points to go along with 18 rebounds in the team’s win over Bement. His aggressive play and leadership have been critical to the teams 4-0 start to the season.

Athletes of the Week – Jan. 9th

The captain of the wrestling team, Sam had an outstanding day on Saturday at the team’s senior day as they faced Deerfield, Pomfret and Suffield. Sam pinned all three of his opponents to help his team to a 2-1 record on the day. Coach KaneLong has been impressed with the level of leadership that Sam has provided all season long.

Jen Carellas ‘15
Jen is off to a strong start for the girls’ varsity ski team. On Wednesday she finished second for Williston and 13th overall in the team’s first race of the season. Jen has been working hard at every practice and has been supportive of her teammates.

Gabby Thomas ‘15
Gabby has helped the girls jv basketball team get off to an outstanding 4-0 start to their season. Last week Gabby scored 39 points in the team’s 69-30 win over Berkshire School.

Athletes of the Week – Dec. 12th

Gabe is off to an impressive 4-1 start on the season for the varsity wrestling team. Gabe went 2-0 last Saturday winning a hard fought gritty match to start the entire day of wrestling.  He set the tone for the rest of the team to really dominate Hamden Hall and Wilbraham & Monson. Gabe is positive, enthusiastic, and he is always looking for ways to improve himself as well as help his teammates get better.

Olivia played a terrific squash match on Saturday at St. Mark’s for the girls’ varsity squash team.  After losing the first two games 11-13 and 9-11, Olivia then elevated her game to win three straight 11-7, 14-12 and 11-9 for Williston’s only win of the day.

 

Caroline Borden ‘16
Caroline helped the girls jv squash team win their opening match of the season over the Berkshire Bears on Saturday. Caroline won both her regular match and an exhibition match. Coach Choo has been very impressed with the spirit that Caroline brings to the team.
