Welcome from Coach Chambers

Hello!

I’m excited to start the 2012 season! As I have learned, some of you are returning and others are new to Williston.  In both cases, I am excited about our team and know that we are going to have a lot of fun while working as a terrific team.

A brief introduction of myself ~ This is my first coaching assignment as a teacher.  In high school, I was my own team’s throwing coach for girl’s track and field.  My school had a shortage of funding, so my best friend and I took on leadership roles to help Twin Valley High School carry on their Division II Championship status.  Although challenging at times, it was a lot of fun!

I started playing volleyball when I made the huge decision to say goodbye to field hockey in ninth grade.  I had played field hockey every fall for my school and for a competitive traveling team during the summer since I was 8 years old.  So, it goes without saying that it was taking a leap of faith to begin something I had only played in PE class!  Without hesitation, I began playing and loved every moment on the court.  I can’t help but have a great time when playing volleyball!

As Coach Williams mentioned, I am an artist and the new Middle and Upper School Art teacher.  Growing up, my parents were (and still are) super supportive with all the different things in which I wanted to take part.  During school I was in an agricultural studies class, and a choral/band homeroom.  I doubled up on my art classes and enrolled in weekend art lessons.  I participated in field hockey, basketball, softball, soccer, volleyball, and track and field.  I had a short career as a bowler, but that ended when Theater Arts practice demanded more time for the school play.  So, as you can see – I don’t believe in just being one type of person.

After high school, I went to art school for a BFA and an MFA in Fiber Arts/ Material Studies.  I recently received my masters in Elementary Education.  I have taught at the college level as well as Kindergarten.  I am positive teaching and coaching at Williston will outshine both experiences tremendously.

As far as my philosophy on teaching and coaching, I am a firm believer in working hard with a smile.  Support each other and come to each game with good energy.  If you do your best, attend practices, and have a great attitude there are no limits to what we can do as a whole.

See you all soon!

Best,

Coach Chambers
