NEMLThe next math team competition (NEML6) will take place on Tuesday, 3/22 from 2:35 to 3:35 in Schoolhouse 25. This is the last NEML of the year! The competition lasts 30 minutes and all competitors must start before 3:05. You may use a calculator.

Anyone at ANY level of math is encouraged to participate!

I sometimes go online and look up things like this week’s new technological discoveries and advances, interdisciplinary researches on futurism, or I simply go on TED or MIT Open Course and when I first saw this research by Stanford during the break, I couldn’t wait to share it to you!

AMC 10/12 2016 – Signup Form

AMC-lgoThe 2016 American Mathematics Competitions 10 and 12 will take place on Wednesday, 2/17 from 8:30 to 10am in Plimpton.

Anyone with any experience with at least Algebra 2 is welcome to participate!

Everyone who wishes to participate must sign up using this online form by Monday, 2/1. There are 20 spots for each competition. Spots will be given out on a first-come first-served basis.

About the competitions:

The AMC 10 is a 25-question, 75-minute, multiple choice examination in secondary school mathematics containing problems which can be understood and solved with algebra and geometry concepts.

The AMC 12 is a 25-question, 75-minute, multiple choice examination in secondary school mathematics containing problems which can be understood and solved with pre-calculus concepts.

Two different versions of the contests are given on two dates, about two weeks apart, in February. Each AMC 10 and AMC 12 contest contain about 12 of the same math problems.

NEML3 and AMC8 Results

The next math team meeting is on Tuesday, 1/12 from 2:45 to 3:30 in Schoolhouse 25. The next Math Team competition is on Tuesday, 1/19 from 2:35 to 3:35, also in Schoolhouse 25. The competition lasts 30 minutes and you must begin before 3:05. You may use a calculator. Any student at any level of math is encouraged to participate!

NEML2 Score Updates & League Standing

NEMLThe next math team meeting will take place on Tuesday 12/8 from 2:45 to 3:30pm in Schoolhouse 25. Anyone at ANY level of math is encouraged to attend!

The next math competition is the NEML3 which will be held on Tuesday, 12/15 from 2:35 to 3:35. The competition lasts 30 minutes and you must begin before 3:05. You can use a calculator. Anyone at ANY level of math is encouraged to participate!

The NEML2 league update was just sent out and our current cumulative team score of 41 is getting us closer to cracking the top 35! (We’re currently only 4 points away!)

It also turns out that there was an issue with question #3 on NEML2, so the league decided to award all competitors the point for the question. This changes our NEML2 team score to a 27! Our top scores for the 2nd round are now:
