I will miss his anxious questions about the state of the Red Sox, and I will cherish the memories of the one baseball camp we ran together back in the mid 1990’s. He asked if I would help him run the camp, and even though I did not know him as well then as I would later, I knew there was no saying no to the man with the genuine smile. I will miss that smile the most.

  17. Ed and I grew up as youngsters, a few doors away from each other in Hadley. Those were magical days from tricycles to sports, cars and girlfriends. We both shared a typical group of rural friends. We played little league baseball and later softball together. The last time I saw Ed, was when I had an art show at the Williston Gallery. Ed visited me to tell me he would not be able to attend the opening. That was fine with me. I was so pleased that he made the effort to visit me while I was hanging my artwork. Also, I had not seen him for many years. Ed went out of his way to visit me. And, of course, we mostly had many laughs. More recently, Ed and I were emailing each other chuckling about the funny things we experienced as kids. About one week before Ed passed, we had emailed each other. Through a mutual friend, I learned Ed had passed while packing to move to the Cape. Ed was the salt of the earth and I often think of him and the beautiful man he was.
