  1. Bob had shown many kindnesses to my mother, Sarah Stevens, particularly in recent years when he would selflessly offer assistance to get her to Williston Wildcats gatherings in Florida and in Connecticut. And he always spoke wisely, wryly, and with admiration of my father, Phil Stevens. I will share the news of Bob’s passing with her. My brothers and sister and I extend our condolences to family and classmates and others who knew this fellow who clearly loved living.

  2. Hutz was actively engaged in life, providing impetus to Williston Academy Alumni and gave a significant contribution of self and time to it. We will remember his life and speak of his deeds for many years to come.

  3. Bob, I’ve known you since 1957 when we were both young aspiring students at Williston Academy in Easthampton, MA. My grandmother had me attend as I was having too much fun in public school. Knowing you as well as I do now, I can only imagine why you were there. Likely you had been telling public school administrations they were full of @#$% and had no idea how to run their school. As one of the triumvirate of Williston ’58s who “invented” and started Williston Wildcat Weekend, and as the one who dedicated much of your own time and money over the past 10 years to arrange and grow that event, I will be forever grateful to you for the many friends I have reconnected with, and the new friends I have made at those yearly September weekends in Mystic. It’s been my privilege and pleasure to work with you on most of the subsequent annual weekends (and on many other projects including politics, fishing tournaments, and a Costa Rican school) to make them successful and enjoyable for all. I know it’s been your dream to have Williston Wildcat Weekend become a legal entity so it perpetuates beyond our generation. I promise to see that happens, my friend. My wife Marilyn and I will both miss hearing your special ringtone on my phone as you’d call almost daily during days, nights, weekends, meals, movies, shopping, and some quite inconvenient activities. We’d both look at each other and smile; at least most of the time. It’s now much too quiet. I’m sure wherever you are now, you are now giving the administration fits. Nobody does it better. Rest well, my dear friend. You have a big heart, and you leave a big hole in the ones you left behind.

  4. We will miss him in our community of alums. He helped start something that will continue well into the future. With appreciation… Swanee
