Margaret DeWitt Dickinson ’47

DewittMrs. Margaret D. Dickinson, 84, of Heritage Village died with dignity,grace and in peace Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, five months after her open heart surgery. She was the wife of the
late Frederick A. Dickinson.

Mrs. Dickinson was born Oct. 23, 1929 in Canandaigua Lake, N.Y., a daughter of the late Richard and Jean (Burnett) DeWitt. She was a graduate of the
Northampton School for Girls in Massachusetts and of Hartford Seminary School.

She worked as a Christian education director for the United Church of Christ in Southbury and Cheshire Congregational Church.

Mrs. Dickinson enjoyed 50 years of marriage to her husband, Frederick. She was a kind soul, devoted to her family, friends and church—outgoing, always helpful to others. She was a loving mother, wonderful friend, a selfless person, spiritual, non-judgmental and beautiful human being. We will miss her dearly and forever.

She is survived by her son, Robert Dickinson and his wife Jane, of Morris; her daughter, Cynthia Dickinson-Sprogis and her husband David, of Watertown, Mass.; a brother, John DeWitt of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter-in-law, Rena Dickinson of Bay Village, Ohio; five grandchildren, Collin Dickinson, Paden Dickinson and Chad Dickinson, all of Morris, Sam Dickinson of Bay Village, Ohio and Max Sprogis of Watertown, Mass.; three nieces and two nephews.

She was predeceased by two sons, David and Richard Dickinson.
