Nancy Corinne Peck Stainbrook ’42

Peck '42Nancy Corinne Peck Stainbrook of The Carriage Club at Charlotte, NC, formerly of New York City, NY, passed away on December 28th, 2010 after a brief bout of pneumonia.

She was preceded in death by her husband and best friend, Richard D. Stainbrook and her sister, Dorcas Allen and parents Mildred E. and Donald T. Peck.

Born November 25, 1924 in New Haven, CT, she graduated from Northampton School for Girls, Smith College and pursued a Graduate degree in Switzerland.

She settled in New York City and was part of the Parent’s League, All Angel’s Church and her children’s schools’ auxiliary programs. She was a class secretary for Smith Class of 1946, and an Officer of the Smith Club in NYC. After relocating to Charlotte in 1994, she embraced being a Grandmother to her own Grandchildren as well as the children of her Greenbrier Community before she moved to The Carriage Club in 2007.

She is survived by her son, Rev. Christopher C. Stainbrook of Ft. Worth, TX, and her daughter, Lucinda (Cindy) Boardman and son-in-law Bob of Charlotte, and her beloved grandsons Timothy and Kevin, as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She will be sorely missed by all.

She loved Opera, pretty stones, chocolate cake and luscious Fall weather; people who met Nancy never walked away without feeling her presence. Her vivaciousness in life was contagious and her wit and humor were addictive.
