Minibus Parking has Moved

Since we have gone to five minibuses, parking the buses at Memorial has been challenging.  We have come up with a solution that should simplify this process significantly.  The buses will now be located in the north end of the lot behind Stevens Chapel.

By putting the buses in the center row, a driver will be able to enter the lot, head towards the west side of the lot (towards Main Street) pull down to the designated spaces and pull into an empty space.  These spaces are painted with yellow lines to distinguish them from the other spaces in the lot.  They also are wider than a standard space, have “BUS” stenciled on the lot and have a stop line at the front of the space.

When taking a bus, the driver will be able to pull straight out and turn to the right to exit the lot.  There will be no need to back up!

Also when returning after using a bus, the driver can stop at the dumpster at Whitaker Bement to get rid of trash that has been collected from the trip.  As in the past, it would be best to return the key to the Schoolhouse key cabinet.  If that is an issue for some reason, we are moving the key drop box from Memorial to the northwest corner of Stevens Chapel.  Hopefully, this will be easier and safer for all involved.

Please feel free to contact us with questions.  The buses have been moved to the new location.

Ben Demerath’s Upcoming Shows

Hello everyone, here’s a quick note one some upcoming shows in the area. Looking forward to playing some music over the next couple of weeks!

Duo show with the great Chris Brashear at the Lumber Yard in Amherst this Friday, Dec. 21st at 8 pm—and I’ll be there again playing solo at 9 pm on New Year’s Eve!

I’m also playing a set from 10 to 11 pm this Saturday, December 22nd at the Luthier’s Coop in Easthampton. Happy to say there is no cover charge for any of these shows!

Easthampton Toy Program Donation

A simple Thank You to all who attended the party Sat. night, to the Head of School for hosting a convivial dessert gathering afterwards, and to others who hosted sundry gatherings around the campus.

I will deliver a check for the Easthampton Toy Program for $297 dollars, so with the $75 in prize money and the number of donations, it was a generous and worthwhile endeavor.

Enjoy the holidays.

Li in All State Chorus

On Saturday, Dec. 15, Alex Li auditioned successfully for All State Chorus!  This is an amazing accomplishment, especially for a 10th grade student. As a result of his successful audition, Alex has been invited to join the All State Chorus at the Festival, Feb. 28-March 2.  The Festival includes two jam-packed days of rehearsals culminating in a concert in Boston’s Symphony Hall the afternoon of Saturday, March 2.

Laramie Project Cast

The cast list for The Laramie Project is listed below. I can say without a doubt that we have compiled a group of terrifically thoughtful and passionate actors who are prepared to share this incredible story with our community.

The following students were not assigned roles. In The Laramie Project, there are 62 characters presented in a number of vignettes the playwrights call “moments.” The play is designed for actors to play multiple roles (it was originally done with eight actors) so each member of our company will play three or four roles.

January 25-27, the cast will also have a weekend intensive workshop with Scott Barrow, a New York-based director and member of the Tectonic Theater Project (the creators of The Laramie Project).

Emily B. Ditkovski
Director of the Williston Theatre

Editor’s note: The Laramie Project runs from April 25-27 and May 2-4 at 7:30 pm in the Williston Theatre.
