The answer to these three questions is a resounding, &#8220;Oui!&#8221; &#8220;Ita!&#8221; and &#8220;\u662f!&#8221; when it comes to Williston students, who took top scores in national language exams recently, netting them awards in French, Latin, and Chinese.<\/p>\n<h3>French Awards<\/h3>\n<p>Nearly 80,000 students nationwide participated in <em>Le Grand Concours<\/em> National French Contest. The following\u00a0students placed at the national level and regional chapter level (for Western Massachusetts and Vermont):<\/p>\n<p><strong>LEVEL 1A (French I)<\/strong><br \/>\nSteven Wang &#8217;20: Sixth place in Western Massachusetts and Vermont chapter, ninth in nation<br \/>\nAriel Yen &#8217;19: Seventh place in regional chapter, 10th in nation<br \/>\nMadhav Ambadi &#8217;20: Seventh place in regional chapter, 10th in nation<br \/>\nMichelle Tu &#8217;20: Ninth place in regional chapter<br \/>\nKate Quimby &#8217;19: Ninth place in regional chapter<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>LEVEL 2A (French II Honors)<\/strong><br \/>\nAnya Rozario &#8217;20: Ninth place in regional chapter, ninth in nation<\/p>\n<p><strong>LEVEL 3A (French III Honors)<br \/>\n<\/strong>Claire Harrison &#8217;19: Eighth place in regional chapter<\/p>\n<p><strong>LEVEL 4A (French V Honors)<\/strong><br \/>\nTayah Sommer &#8217;19: Eighth place in regional chapter<\/p>\n<p><strong>LEVEL 5A (AP French Language)<br \/>\n<\/strong>Trixie Willems &#8217;19: Seventh\u00a0place in regional chapter<br \/>\nAnna Willinsky &#8217;17: 10th\u00a0place in regional chapter<br \/>\nAlara Akisik &#8217;17: 10th\u00a0place in regional chapter<\/p>\n<h3>Latin Awards<\/h3>\n<p>Approximately 150,000 students from 50 states and 15 countries sat for\u00a0the 2017 National Latin Exam. The following students received awards in honor of their success on the exam.<\/p>\n<p>The following students earned a <strong>Certificate of Honorable Merit CUM LAUDE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Level II, Kenneth Wang &#8217;20<\/p>\n<p>In Level IV, Anabelle Farnham &#8217;18<\/p>\n<p><u><\/u>The following students earned a <strong>Certificate of Honorable Merit MAGNA CUM LAUDE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Level I, Graham Allardyce &#8217;19<\/p>\n<p>In Level II, Julia Farnham &#8217;20 and\u00a0\u00a0Dylan Fulcher-Melendy &#8217;20<\/p>\n<p>In Level III, Eric Albanese &#8217;20 and\u00a0DJ Poulin &#8217;19<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>The following student earned a <strong>Silver Medal, MAXIMA CUM LAUDE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Level III, Jason Albanese &#8217;20<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>With his flawless performance on the National Latin Exam this student earned a <strong>Gold Medal, SUMMA CUM LAUDE, and Perfect Paper award for the third year in a row<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>In Level II, Nathaniel Markey &#8217;20<\/p>\n<h3>Chinese Awards<\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_220\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-220\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-220 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/academic-news\/files\/2017\/05\/Plouffe-Chinese-honor-society-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/academic-news\/files\/2017\/05\/Plouffe-Chinese-honor-society-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/academic-news\/files\/2017\/05\/Plouffe-Chinese-honor-society-250x188.jpg 250w, https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/academic-news\/files\/2017\/05\/Plouffe-Chinese-honor-society.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-220\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chinese Honor Society inductees, with Chinese teacher Rita Plouffe and Beatrice Cody (at right)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Chinese IV and AP students were inducted into membership of the National Chinese Honor Society. The National Chinese Honor Society is a scholastic organization that promotes and recognizes students who demonstrate citizenship, leadership, and community service.<\/p>\n<p>The inductees received a NCHS pin and certificate. Inductees who completed the school&#8217;s Chinese program also received an NCHS Cord which will be worn at their graduation ceremony. After the ceremony a celebratory dumpling-making party was held.
