During his induction as an Eagle Scout in a recent ceremony at the Log Cabin in Easthampton, Walter\u00a0McLaughlin recalled the hot summer days, the sound of Taps, and the loyal friends that are the hallmarks of Boy Scout life.<\/p>\n
A member of Troop 171 out of Hampden, MA, McLaughlin was sponsored by Hampden Engineering President John M. Flynn.<\/p>\n
“We’ve all taken something different from being in scouting, but I myself have taken three things,” McLaughlin said after the ceremony. “The friends I’ve made, because scouts are trustworthy and loyal, the best qualities of a friend; summer camp, the hot days and Camp Moses and I always loved the sound of Taps before going to sleep; and the respect you gain as an Eagle Scout.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
