\"\"<\/a>Matt Dupont ’12 was recently featured in the British Columbia Hockey League<\/a> publication, Smart Hockey Magazine<\/a>, where he was hailed for his rare combination of athletic and academic excellence.<\/p>\n

Dupont, from Milton, Ont., is enrolled at Powell River campus of Vancouver Island University and is a first year forward for the Powell River Kings.<\/p>\n

In the article, Dupont describes his experience at The Williston Northampton School as
\n“good hockey with high competition and good players. It gave me the confidence and ability to move on to the next level.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a good experience.\u201d Dupont says of his time at prep school. \u201cIt\u2019s a great campus and they stress hard work in education and athletics. They teach you to push yourself to be the best person you can. It was good for me.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter playing in the U.S. for a couple years I wanted to make that next jump, and you automatically think BCHL, it was the easiest and best choice. It\u2019s a great opportunity for me to get to the next level.\u201d
\nDupont repeated Grade 11 in his first year at Williston Northampton and over his two years there he took English, calculus, physics, biology, poetry and French.<\/p>\n

But, it\u2019s not his French class, or any of the sciences he excelled at that seems to have stuck with Dupont after graduation, but his foray in to the arts; poetry.<\/p>\n

\u201cI enjoy writing. In my spare time I might write every once in a while. Not a lot of people know; my close friends do, not many though, relatively few.\u201d Dupont shyly admits. When asked which form he enjoys, he says, \u201cMostly free verse.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
