Together, the artists open up the mind and spirit to nurture deep thinking.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Miller told the<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.toledofreepress.com\/2013\/11\/05\/new-collaboration-details-how-to-abstract-art-appreciation\/\">Toledo Free Press<\/a><\/em> that the book\u2014whose title uses the word &#8220;abstract&#8221; in the sense of taking from or simplifying\u2014was designed to be a teaching tool for modern art, as well as a showcase for 70 visual pieces and 20 poems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbstract art is so misunderstood, even today. Modern art is not really understood by the public and even from people who even teach art,\u201d Ms. Miller is quoted as saying in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.toledofreepress.com\/2013\/11\/05\/new-collaboration-details-how-to-abstract-art-appreciation\/\">article<\/a>. \u201cWhen people think of abstract, people think of something as very confusing or kind of crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Miller\u2019s work has been exhibited in group and solo shows in museums and galleries, including the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.corcoran.org\/home\">Corcoran Gallery of Art and Design<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.phillipscollection.org\/index.aspx\">The Phillips Collection<\/a>.
