This small establishment is located in the Hell\u2019s Kitchen part of New York on the West Side and was recommended by a young alum. Overall, we had 32 people in attendance. A couple of alumni volunteered to help me find a spot for the next reception.\u00a0 I told them I would love to do one this summer in a venue with outdoor seating.<\/p>\n<p>Those in attendance covered a range of years\u2014from 1956 up to 2010\u2014and lingered even after the official end of the event. <strong>Will Fogg<\/strong><b> and <\/b><strong>Julie North<\/strong> popped in for a few moments right at the beginning, but had to leave soon after for another engagement.<\/p>\n<p>I connected <strong>Marlene Krauss P\u201917<\/strong> with <strong>Samantha Teece \u201907<\/strong>, who was one of my soccer captains, and they chatted about Western United, the team that Olivia (Marlene\u2019s daughter) will be playing for this spring. There are three other current Williston players on the team (including my advisee, <strong>Jasmin Movassaghi \u201916<\/strong>).\u00a0<strong>Foster DeJesus \u201956<\/strong> came with <strong>Arthur Coleman \u201971<\/strong>. They spent a lot of time chatting with <strong>Liz Shaler Dos Santos \u201984<\/strong>, who is the daughter of Al Shaler.\u00a0 Foster was one of the famed DeJesus swimmers of Williston lore (along with his brother, <strong>Prentiss \u201957<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/alumni\/files\/2014\/03\/DSCN6766.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-997\" alt=\"DSCN6766\" src=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/alumni\/files\/2014\/03\/DSCN6766-300x234.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/alumni\/files\/2014\/03\/DSCN6766-300x234.jpg 300w, https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/alumni\/files\/2014\/03\/DSCN6766.jpg 320w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>David Mederrick \u201991<\/strong> just got engaged and is getting married this summer.\u00a0 He asked her in a horse-drawn carriage in Central Park. <strong>Hope Nawada \u201992<\/strong> lives with her son, Jack, who she clearly adores.\u00a0 <b>Takila Oku \u201992<\/b> will be attending the event in Sonoma Valley as well.\u00a0 She is going with <b>Safiya Cathey \u201993<\/b> and has never been to California so she is excited.<\/p>\n<p>The Class of 1996 was well-represented with four attendees (<strong>Kyle Abel, Jonathan Morgan, Sarah Hoffman <\/strong>and<strong> Danielle Saint Louis<\/strong>).\u00a0 Kyle, Jonathan and Sarah were all PGs at Williston. Jonathan is originally from VT, played football for Rick Francis and had a younger brother (Andrew \u201901) who did a PG year here as well.\u00a0 Kyle also played football and helped Rick Francis coach the 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\u2019s boys\u2019 basketball team.\u00a0 He got married last year and Jonathan was his best man.\u00a0 Danielle played soccer for me and could run like a deer!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/alumni\/files\/2014\/03\/DSCN6768.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-999\" alt=\"DSCN6768\" src=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/alumni\/files\/2014\/03\/DSCN6768-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/alumni\/files\/2014\/03\/DSCN6768-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/alumni\/files\/2014\/03\/DSCN6768.jpg 320w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>A person I was really psyched to see was <strong>Nora Feher \u201897<\/strong>, who I had also interviewed.\u00a0 Nora came to Williston for one year as an ASSIST student from Hungary.\u00a0 After spending her junior year here, she returned to Hungary but was told that she had to repeat the 11<sup>th<\/sup> grade.\u00a0 Since she didn\u2019t want to do that, she went to school in Austria for her senior year.\u00a0 She came with <strong>Sean Durkin \u201997,<\/strong> who did a PG year here at Williston. <strong>Jennifer Rivers \u201997 <\/strong>came with <strong>Nicole Smith \u201997<\/strong> who is pregnant with her second child and due in June.\u00a0 <strong>Jenn Mayo Sheppard \u201997<\/strong> came with her husband, Dustin, and <strong>Jason Magnus \u201999 <\/strong>and<strong> Rabiya Akhtar \u201999<\/strong> who are married.\u00a0 They all try to get together on a regular basis.\u00a0 Rabiya\u2019s sister is <strong>Areeje \u201904<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matt McWilliams \u201900<\/strong> came with <strong>Edgar Ramos \u201900<\/strong> and <strong>Samantha Teece \u201907<\/strong>.\u00a0 <b>Erica Teece \u201901<\/b> was supposed to attend but came down with a cold.\u00a0 Edgar works for the Discovery Channel in advertising and travels all over the country.\u00a0 Samantha is currently in grad school getting her Masters in dietary sciences.\u00a0 <strong>Eric Ketcham \u201906<\/strong> came with his girlfriend, Hyein Lee.\u00a0 Both are in the PhD program, finishing up their degrees in Sociology.\u00a0 The final two attendees were <strong>Brendan McCartney \u201908<\/strong> and <strong>Chris Zombik \u201910,<\/strong> who will be graduating this year from Columbia with a degree in Sociology.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We held the New York City Social at Ardesia Wine and Beer Bar.
