David H. Wells, a freelance documentary photographer who specializes in multimedia productions and photo-essays, will present the next in the Photographers\u2019 Lecture Series on April 21.<\/p>\n

Mr. Wells, who is affiliated with the outdoor photography distribution company Aurora Photos, specializes in intercultural communication and visual narratives.<\/p>\n

On his blog and podcast site, \u201cThe Wells Point,\u201d Mr. Wells explains that creating exceptional photographers requires the photographer to go above and beyond in their preparations.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\"OLYMPUS<\/a>\u201cPhotography requires gear. Duh. That\u2019s a given,\u201d he wrote. \u201cYet, the most important tool any photographer has is their mind, their eye, their humanity and their adaptability… Before you leave for any other culture, smart photographers prepare by reading up on cultural concerns they may encounter on the road.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Wells\u2019 work has been in over 50 exhibitions and he has taught workshops at the International Center for Photography in NYC and at the Maine Photographic Workshops. He has received a Fulbright fellowship, a grant from Nikon\/N.P.P.A. and a fellowship from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.<\/p>\n

The lecture will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Dodge Room, Reed Campus Center, and like all the talks in the series, is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
