Held on Friday, May 8 in the Reed Campus Center, the festival featured &#8220;great turnout [and] great films,&#8221;\u00a0according to\u00a0festival organizer and arts faculty Ed Hing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Some \u00a0submissions were allowed through the internet and that made the tech part way easier,&#8221; he noted. &#8220;Next year will be all online submissions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Some 70 entries were whittled down to 30 films, presented in two 45-minute &#8216;acts.&#8217;\u00a0Anthony Leung &#8217;15 performed and there was\u00a0pizza during the 20-minute judges deliberation.\u00a0This year\u2019s judges were\u00a0NYC-based film editor Patrick Burns \u201989; Professor Emeritus of Media Studies at the UNC Tony Fragola \u201962; and Northampton-based film maker Jared Skolnick \u201905.<\/p>\n<p>The first prize, \u00a0a $50 Tandem Bagel gift card, went to Will Harrington of Concord Academy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The judges\u00a0commented that all participants should be proud of their entries, that every film showed creativity and effort,&#8221; noted Mr. Hing. &#8220;They were impressed with the caliber of the work.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Motion Picture: <\/strong>&#8220;The Frog Whisperer,&#8221; Will Harrington, Concord Academy<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Editing: <\/strong>&#8220;De Dans en Dehors,&#8221; Jacob Bridgman, Northampton High School<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Screenplay: <\/strong>&#8220;Bad Habits,&#8221; Karen Morey, Walnut Hill School<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Cinematography: <\/strong>&#8220;Rembihnutur,&#8221; Mikaela Dillon, Walnut Hill School<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Animated Feature: <\/strong>&#8220;War is Hell,&#8221; Forrester Menson, Northampton High School<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Documentary: <\/strong>&#8220;Couture for a Cause,&#8221; Helen Luo, Dana Hall School<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Music Video: <\/strong>&#8220;Emitime,&#8221; Oliver Holblitzelle, Vermont Academy<\/p>\n<p><strong>BEST PSA: \u00a0<\/strong>&#8220;Bike Helmet Safety,&#8221; Risa Tapanes, Williston Northampton<\/p>\n<p><strong>Most Creative: <\/strong>&#8220;Experimental,&#8221; Jen Carellas, Williston Northampton<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Best Williston Film:<\/strong> &#8220;Ford Hall Syfu-r,&#8221;John Kay, Williston Northampton<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to all the winners of the 8th Annual Williston Film Festival!
