Photo and caption dianewrightquilts.blogspot.com<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A group exhibit featuring the work of a dozen fiber artists from Southern Connecticut is now on display at the Williston Northampton School\u2019s Grubbs Gallery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDouble Take: Photo &amp; Fiber,\u201d which includes both fiber artwork and the nature photographs that inspired them, opened March 6. A reception for the artists will be held in the gallery on March 23 from 2-4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The collective work was created by <a href=\"http:\/\/sistersincloth.blogspot.com\/\">Sisters in Cloth<\/a>, a group who drew their name from a Progressive quilt with a batik motif that they created together. Sisters in Cloth started in Guilford in 2000 and the group\u2019s collective work has appeared in such venues as Haskins Labs at Yale University, Legislative Office Building in Hartford, Garde Theater in New London, and Connecticut Hospice in Branford.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The \u201cDouble Take\u201d exhibit was inspired by the nature photography of Rosemary DeLucco Alpert. The display includes the original images\u2014details of looping stamens and green, white, pink, and blue petals\u2014alongside their fiber art interpretations, both literal and abstract.<\/p>\n<p>According to an article in the <em>Fairfield Sun<\/em>, a Connecticut-based newspaper, the artists were \u201cattracted to either the overall image, the composition, the color or the texture\u201d of the photographs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDouble Take\u201d will be on display until March 28.
