This week kicks off the annual battle for the Francis-Kinne Cup, a friendly competition held each fall between Williston Northampton School and Suffield Academy.<\/p>\n
The cup was named after two legendary athletic directors: Rick Francis from Williston and Dennis Kinne from Suffield. The two schools play a total of 14 contests and the one that wins the most games retains the cup for the year.\u00a0\u00a0The tradition began as a way to both lend meaning to the annual games and to recognize the friendship between the two schools.\u00a0 On the cup itself are four precepts: friendship, good sportsmanship, fair play, and the spirit off competitive play.<\/p>\n
This is the 10th year the two schools compete for the cup. The current record is Suffield – 4, Williston – 3, tied – 1, and storm – 1.\u00a0 (Most of us remember those games at Suffield two years ago in a snowstorm<\/a>.)<\/p>\n Williston lost in JV Football this week and are down 0-1 so far.\u00a0 There are five games today: varsity and JV field hockey, varsity and JV volleyball, and varsity water polo.\u00a0 The rest of the games are on Saturday: varsity football, three boys soccer games, two girls soccer games and our cross country invitational.<\/p>\n To show our great school spirit, Saturday will be a Blue and Green Day.\u00a0 Students must be in dress code from the waist down, but can wear any Williston gear or apparel from the waist up. Uniform jerseys will also be available if students wish to wear them to class.<\/p>\n Go, Wildcats!
