I\u2019m so proud of her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s a kind and generous teammate who always wants the best for herself and those around her,\u201d agreed Jen Fulcher, head coach of the girls basketball team. \u201cShe always believes we can, and that\u2019s infectious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Ms. Harris-Kuiper described the Williston community as a supportive family, while her parents, Stephanie Harris-Kuiper and Mark Kuiper, added that her time at Williston had been a time of incredible opportunity. Ms. Harris-Kuiper transformed, they said, from a modern dancer to a force on the basketball court. By her sophomore year, she had been named NEPSAC All-New England.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2014\/11\/IMG_0929.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1472\" src=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2014\/11\/IMG_0929-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Photo by Dennis Crommett\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2014\/11\/IMG_0929-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2014\/11\/IMG_0929-250x166.jpg 250w, https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2014\/11\/IMG_0929.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>\u201cThe right coach saw what was in her,\u201d Mrs. Harris-Kuiper said. \u201cToday is in large part to due to Williston.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Harris-Kuiper described watching a game in which her daughter was matched against a much a larger New York opponent, but \u201cbusted out like a bull.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMar had strength and tenacity and that got them the game,\u201d Mrs. Harris-Kuiper said. \u201cI said, \u2018Oh my god, she really has potential.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Williston senior was recruited by roughly a dozen schools, but found the perfect fit at Saint Leo, with its diverse campus and strong basketball team. Ms. Harris-Kuiper will also be joining an honors college at the university.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I went to Saint Leo, everything about it was literally perfect,\u201d she said. \u201cI couldn\u2019t ask for a better school.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Saint Leo women&#8217;s basketball team broke school records for wins in a single season, and for conference wins in a single season. The team capped off these achievements by advancing to their first-ever NCAA South Region tournament appearance.
