First the Williston Northampton boys took the lead, then Exeter came back in the second half.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow they\u2019re up 10 on us and it\u2019s like four minutes to go,\u201d recalls Coach Michael Shelton. \u201cAs a coach, you\u2019re like, \u2018Man, this is crunch time.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A three-point shot by Chris Hudson tied the game 66-66. With 15 seconds left, the ball went out of bounds and Coach Shelton called in Ryan Richmond \u201915.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe call Ryan\u2019s number and he just comes off and it\u2019s just like how you see on TV,\u201d said Coach Shelton. \u201cHe takes a couple of dribbles, then 18 feet\u2026right down the middle of the key. Helping lead the charge was Mr. Richmond, who was named Tournament MVP.<\/p>\n<p>This week, Mr. Richmond celebrated another big moment when he signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts.<\/p>\n<p>He said he chose Bentley not only for its great basketball legacy, but prestige in the field of business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel that it offered me the most promising future,\u201d he wrote in an email, adding \u201cIt\u2019s right beside Boston, which reminds me of home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Bentley Falcons are a Division II team and had a 15-12 overall record from last season. Since the team lacks what Mr. Richardson describes as a \u201cprimary ball handler,\u201d he noted that he would be able to make an impact quickly at the school.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Richmond also said head coach Joe Lawson and his assistant Jay Fremeau were another plus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe coaching staff is great,\u201d Mr. Richmond noted. \u201cThey support their players and demand the most of them, which will only help me develop as a basketball player and man.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The high point in the boys varsity basketball regular season\u2014the championship game would come later\u2014happened early, against the perennial power house Phillips Exeter Academy.
