The team&#8217;s outstanding season propelled them into the playoffs, where they won three tight games against Hopkins, Governors, and Middlesex to<a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/2015\/11\/23\/field-hockey-wins-nepsac-championship\/\"> lift the Class B trophy<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#Top\">Back to Top<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Boys Cross Country<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2015\/11\/boys-xc.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2114 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2015\/11\/boys-xc-288x300.jpg\" alt=\"boys xc\" width=\"288\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2015\/11\/boys-xc-288x300.jpg 288w, https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2015\/11\/boys-xc-240x250.jpg 240w, https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2015\/11\/boys-xc.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 288px) 100vw, 288px\" \/><\/a>Under the direction of Coaches Talbot, Pelliccia, and Gunn, the boys cross country team enjoyed one of their finest seasons in recent history, finishing with a outstanding record of 13-1.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Numerous highlights this season included wins over Kent, Roxbury Latin, and Taft; during the final meet of the season at Salisbury, the boys swept eight of the top 10 spots.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The boys continued their success at the Shaler Invitational and at the New England Championships, earning a third-place finish in both meets. The team finished second at the Westminster Invitational, and six current runners hold a top 10 spot on the course honor roll.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"Girls Soccer\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>MVP: Caroline Borden &#8217;16<br \/>\nMIP: Isabelle Cheney &#8217;20, Pinky King &#8217;16<br \/>\nSportsmanship Award: Maddy Scott &#8217;17, Emily Yeager &#8217;17<\/p>\n<p>Next year&#8217;s captains will be Natalie Aquardo &#8217;17, Anabelle Farnham &#8217;18, and Emily Yeager &#8217;17.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#Top\">Back to Top<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Girls Soccer<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2015\/10\/wysocki.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2080 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2015\/10\/wysocki-216x300.jpg\" alt=\"wysocki\" width=\"216\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2015\/10\/wysocki-216x300.jpg 216w, https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2015\/10\/wysocki-180x250.jpg 180w, https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2015\/10\/wysocki.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 216px) 100vw, 216px\" \/><\/a><strong>Girls JV soccer<\/strong> enjoyed a exciting building season this fall as they competed in 14 games with only 11 players on their roster. \u00a0Under the guidance of Coaches Johnson and Eberle, the girls finished with a record of 7-6-1, including great victories over Suffield, Taft, and Berkshire.<\/p>\n<p>MVP: Emily Warren &#8217;19<br \/>\nMIP: \u00a0Vy Tran &#8217;17<br \/>\nSportsmanship: Kira Wilson &#8217;16<\/p>\n<p>Under the enthusiastic leadership of coaches Fulcher and Conroy, the <strong>girls varsity soccer team<\/strong> enjoyed a breakout season, culminating in a <a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/2015\/11\/19\/willistons-star-athletes-in-competition-this-weekend\/\">Western New England Class B Championship and a NEPSAC tournament appearance<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a season full of highlights, the most notable ones include a 3-0 victory of Wilbraham and Monson at home, a pair of 1-0 victories over Deerfield and Westminster, and a comprehensive 5-1 win over Taft. \u00a0 Perhaps the most impressive accomplishment from this past season was the 1-0 win over Class A powerhouse Loomis Chaffee.<\/p>\n<p>The girls also set a record for shutouts, 10, and had the fewest goals conceded by a Williston team in a season, eight, which shattered the previous record of 12 set in 1997.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"Boys Soccer\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>MVP: Caroline Wysocki &#8217;16<br \/>\nMIP: Fiona Bundy &#8217;18, Sophia Schaefer &#8217;18<br \/>\nSportsmanship: Ray Stein &#8217;16<br \/>\nAlumnae Award: Haley McCreary &#8217;16<\/p>\n<p>Next year&#8217;s captains will be Madison Fulcher-Melendy &#8217;18, Kylie Tracanna &#8217;17, and Molly Zawacki &#8217;17.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#Top\">Back to Top<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Boys Soccer<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2015\/11\/smith.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2106 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2015\/11\/smith-206x300.jpg\" alt=\"smith\" width=\"206\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2015\/11\/smith-206x300.jpg 206w, https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2015\/11\/smith-172x250.jpg 172w, https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2015\/11\/smith.jpg 260w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 206px) 100vw, 206px\" \/><\/a>There were 79 boys who came out for Williston&#8217;s four soccer teams this fall. A shutout victory at Suffield was particularly satisfying highlight.<\/p>\n<p>MVP: \u00a0Justin Newman &#8217;18<br \/>\nMIP: John Kim &#8217;18<br \/>\nSportsmanship: Ben Normandin &#8217;19<\/p>\n<p>Coach Conroy&#8217;s<strong> varsity football team<\/strong> had an outstanding season, finishing with a record of 6-2. \u00a0Led by a potent offense, the Wildcats averaged over 37 points per game.<\/p>\n<p>Junior quarterback Ian Ostberg threw for over 2,000 yards and 26 touchdown passes, many of them to the dynamic receiving duo of Michael Dereus and Jake Ross. \u00a0Senior captain Nick Garofano finished his football career as the school&#8217;s all-time leading rusher and scorer.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"Boys Water Polo\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jim Purce Memorial Award for Overall Excellence: Ian Ostberg &#8217;17<br \/>\nEdward Stimets Jr. Memorial Defense Excellence Award: Mark Wilson &#8217;16, Derek Zewinski &#8217;17<br \/>\nLindy Hanson Memorial Offensive Excellence Award: Michael Dereus &#8217;16, Jake Ross &#8217;16<br \/>\nRichard R. The team was led by captain Lacey Gillis &#8217;16, who competes on the Williston-Fuller Inter Scholastic Equestrian team. The highlight of their season was a shutout victory over Stoneleigh Burnham.<\/p>\n<p>MVP: Kai McCalla &#8217;17<br \/>\nMIP: Alexis Parker &#8217;19<br \/>\nSportsmanship: Caitlyn Reid &#8217;19<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>varsity volleyball<\/strong> team, led by Coaches Schneider and Moyer, steadily improved as the season progressed. \u00a0Despite the challenging schedule the team faced, its members worked through adversity in games and continued to push themselves in practices for the entire season.<\/p>\n<p>This fall&#8217;s highlights include an exciting 3-2 victory over Stoneleigh Burnham and a shutout victory over Cushing.
