This week alone, she was responsible for making key plays and stepping in to win many 50-50 balls on the defensive side. \u00a0She was a big reason the Wildcats earned two shutouts. Fiona leads by example as she is a tireless worker on and off the field and constantly trying to make herself and her teammates better.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Xavier Thibault \u201918 &#8211; Varsity Football<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/X.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3549\" src=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/X.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"177\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Xavier has been a great leader on and off the field for the Wildcats this season as one of the team captains. On Saturday he had an outstanding game against Avon with a team high 7 tackles, 6.5 of those were for a loss of yardage. His day also included 4.5 sacks. \u00a0Not only did he get it done on the defensive end but he also had a very strong day on offense. Xavier now has 7.5 sacks in just 3 games this year. The Wildcats will continue to look to Xavier for his great play on the field and his leadership ability off the field.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Anna Richardson \u201921- Girls Varsity Cross Country<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/anna.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3550\" src=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/anna.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"177\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Anna has been a very solid and reliable runner in the Wildcats top varsity group this season. She has placed 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\u00a0for the team in each of the four races. On Saturday, against Westminster and Kingswood-Oxford, Anna battled the number two Westminster girl for most of the second half of the race, including a long uphill and a final sprint around the track.\u00a0 Both girls were neck and neck for almost a mile, and Anna was able to win by a stride to take 4<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0place overall, helping the team beat Westminster 22-36.\u00a0 Anna trains at practice each day with serious commitment and full energy, and she sets a strong tone for her teammates with maximum effort at every practice and race.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Dylan Agbarha \u201918 &#8211; Boys Varsity Soccer<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/dylan.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3551\" src=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/dylan.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"177\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Dylan has had a tremendous week for the Wildcats.\u00a0 He made an immediate impact versus Westminster on Wednesday. Westminster\u2019s defense had a difficult time dealing with Dylan\u2019s physical play up top. His presence in the game allowed his teammates to create more dangerous chances on the offensive end. He was instrumental in the Wildcats\u2019 goal, providing the assist for Jake Goodman\u2019s game tier. \u00a0On Saturday, Dylan changed positions to center back for the betterment of the team, showcasing his team-first mentality. He neutralized Millbrook\u2019s dynamic forward for much of the game. \u00a0He was one of Williston\u2019s best players on the day, and he helped secure a tie against a talented Millbrook team.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Gabby Dicomitis \u201918 &#8211; Varsity Field Hockey<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/gasbby.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3552\" src=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/gasbby.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"177\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Gabby has been an immovable force in net this season for the Wildcats.\u00a0\u00a0Her fantastic play continued this week against a physical Kent team on Wednesday, and in an even more important game on Saturday against Berkshire. She was able to keep a cool head for both games and was a difference maker. She logged 11 saves on Wednesday and 9 saves on Saturday, including one right at the buzzer.\u00a0 As a senior leader of a very strong defense she has provided great communication and leadership skills, and her play has undoubtedly been a big part of the Wildcats success this season.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Maxwell Edwards \u201922 &#8211; Boys Junior Soccer<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/maxwell.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3553\" src=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/maxwell.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"177\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Max has been a consistently hard working member of the Wildcats team this season. He shows up to every practice with a positive attitude and ready to lead the team. On Wednesday, the Wildcats were losing 1-3 at half time. Max scored a goal 8 seconds into the second half to help start the comeback. He also had an assist on the final goal to help the Wildcats win the game 4-3. Max is continuously working to perfect his craft and this hard work has shown early this season.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Taryn Queenin \u201821\u00a0\u2013 Girls JV Volleyball<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/taryn.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3554\" src=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/taryn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"177\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Taryn has had a great season so far for the Wildcats. She showed great athleticism in this week\u2019s games vs Deerfield and Berkshire. She took full control of her position on the court, providing excellent coverage on the defensive side while developing some power as an outside hitter. Taryn always makes an effort to get to the ball in order to keep the play alive. Her footwork and athleticism allowed for several saves that were key in the win over Berkshire. The Wildcats will continue to look to Taryn for her expertise and \u201cteam first\u201d play for the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Jaden Tanguay \u201918 &#8211; Boys Varsity Water Polo<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/jaden.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3555\" src=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/jaden.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"177\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Jaden was a jack of all trades this week for the Wildcats. On Wednesday against Loomis Jaden led the team in scoring with 4 goals. On Saturday, his great play continued, as Jaden stepped into the emergency goalkeeper role against Suffield and made 9 saves including a penalty shot. Even though Jaden has only played water polo for two years, he has stepped into the role of co-captain, and he\u00a0has been instrumental in the improved play of this gritty young team. The Wildcats will look to his leadership for the remainder of this season.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Lydia Ji \u201820 \u2013 Girls Varsity Volleyball<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/lydia.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3556\" src=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/lydia.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"151\" height=\"220\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Lydia was a big part of the Wildcats success this week as she has brought new meaning to the words \u201cquiet confidence\u201d. She has quietly worked hard in practice taking every coaching tip and internalizing it and working at it. This hard work was put on display this week when Lydia took control of the middle blocker position. Against Berkshire and Pomfret on Saturday she got her hands on tough hits frequently. This gave her teammates the opportunity to make a better play on the ball. In addition to her strong play at the net, Lydia has proven herself to be one of the hardest servers on the team. Other teams have struggled to return her serves in a clean manner. Lydia has shown grit and determination in getting better at volleyball and has made huge strides to find her best self both on and off the court.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Chris Barber \u201921 &#8211; JV Football<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/chris.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3557\" src=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/chris.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"177\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Chris was a standout on both offense and defense in the Wildcats game against Kingswood-Oxford last Wednesday.\u00a0 He made numerous tackles on defense, but made his most significant contributions on offense where he made up the majority of Williston&#8217;s offensive production.\u00a0 Chris had a number of long receptions, frequently breaking numerous tackles for long gains. Chris leads by example, as his hard work and determination, provide a great framework for the Wildcats to build upon.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Annika Jensen \u201823 \u2013 Girls JV Soccer<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/annika.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3558\" src=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/annika.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"177\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Annika has quickly become a critical player for the Wildcats, playing both midfield and forward.\u00a0\u00a0She comes with a lot of soccer experience and shows incredible passion for the game.\u00a0 She works hard to improve her skills during practices and she is a fearless competitor during games.\u00a0 Annika is the team\u2019s leading scorer, and she solidified a huge win against Deerfield last week\u00a0with two stunning goals. Annika\u2019s work ethic is second to none and she is always encouraging her teammates to perform to the best of their ability.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Alex Gutierrez \u201921- Boys JVB Soccer<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/alex.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3559\" src=\"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/athletics\/files\/2017\/10\/alex.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"61\" height=\"66\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Alex has had a great start of the season for the Wildcats. Playing offense as a mid-fielder and forward, Alex has been a consistent shot taker.\u00a0 This week, he scored two goals against Salisbury on Wednesday, and on Saturday continued his stellar play by scoring 2 more times against Vermont Academy.\u00a0 Alex is recognized for his aggressive attack, dribbling, close ball control, and shots on goal.
