As part of the 1963 swimming team, he set national prep records in three events\u201450 free, 100 free, and 200 free\u2014and was named All-American for both those events and three others\u2014200 medley relay, 200 free relay, and 100 butterfly.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Tyler continued his domination at Trinity College, where he was named All-American three times, was a national champion in the 500 free, a national runner-up in the 200 free, and set seven Trinity records.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->After college, Mr. Tyler returned to Williston for five years, where he was an assistant coach under Wilmot Babcock from 1968-1972 and head coach in 1972-1973. He coached 32 All-Americans. He moved to Florida in the fall of 1973 and coached at St. Andrew\u2019s School for the next 22 years, amassing 627 wins. Under his leadership, the girls swimming team went undefeated in 1987 and won the state championship, as well as the national championship (as determined by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/\"><em>Swimming World<\/em><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Tyler, who also coached the Bahamian National Team at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, was later inducted into the St. Andrew\u2019s hall of fame. He made such a mark on the school, and created such a legacy, that St. Andrew\u2019s swimming facility was later named after him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you are a Williston alumnus from the &#8217;60s thru &#8217;80s, the name \u2018Duff Tyler\u2019 says it all,\u201d wrote teammate Lou Kissling &#8217;67. \u201cEnough said.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em><em>The Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony, dinner, and reception will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013.
