While earning 12 varsity letters over the course of his time at Williston, Mr. Timm was also named captain for three sports.<\/p>\n<p>To kick off his freshmen year, Mr. Timm was named starting quarterback on the varsity football team. He passed for 609 yards and ran for 192 yards, leading his team in both statistics.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->In the spring, Mr. Timm was such an all-around baseball player\u2014working the infield, outfield, catcher, and pitcher positions\u2014that the major leagues scouted him. When scouts told him to drop football for the fall, Mr. Timm switched to soccer.<\/p>\n<p>As a sophomore, Mr. Timm was named the soccer team\u2019s most valuable player. By junior year, he had been named captain of the soccer team and again earned both MVP and All-League honors. In his senior year, Mr. Timm added All-New England and All-American to his honors as MVP and captain. He was the first male soccer player at Williston to earn All-American status.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI never had a player who so completely dominated a game,\u201d said Coach Ray Brown of Mr. Timm.<\/p>\n<p>When not on the soccer field, Mr. Timm was also dominating in basketball. He set the school\u2019s scoring record at 1,020 points and made the All-Star team.<\/p>\n<p>He was, said teammate Keith Brown &#8217;78, \u201cperhaps the best all-around athlete I&#8217;ve ever seen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would imagine he is one of the greatest to have ever played at Williston,\u201d added Mr. Brown.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Timm started at second base on the Stanford University varsity baseball team as a freshman walk-on. He played on the\u00a0Junior National Soccer Team (USA) in Europe before going on to play for the Tampa Bay Rowdies. He was also captain of the US Junior National Soccer Team and owned the Brookhillls Golf club in Springfield, IL.<\/p>\n<p><em><em>The Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony, dinner, and reception will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013.
