{"id":84,"date":"2013-12-20T10:07:13","date_gmt":"2013-12-20T15:07:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/boyshockey\/?p=84"},"modified":"2013-12-20T10:07:13","modified_gmt":"2013-12-20T15:07:13","slug":"st-sebs-holiday-tournament-preview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/boyshockey\/2013\/12\/20\/st-sebs-holiday-tournament-preview\/","title":{"rendered":"St. Seb&#8217;s Holiday Tournament Preview"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Team Reporter &amp; Writer-Nate Gordon<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, December 20, Williston Hockey will travel to Needham, Mass. for the annual St. Sebastian\u2019s Hockey Tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Williston\u2019s first opponent will be the Rivers School on Friday at 4 p.m. This will be the Wildcats\u2019 first game since December 11<sup>th<\/sup> when they lost 7-3 to Cushing Academy, which put Williston at 1-2-1 on the season. The team\u2019s December 14<sup>th<\/sup> game against Gunnery was canceled due to snow, and will hopefully be rescheduled for some time in January.<\/p>\n<p>The Rivers Red Wings come into the game at 2-1 on the season. The team\u2019s single loss was against St. Sebastian\u2019s,\u00a0when\u00a0it fell\u00a03-2 in overtime. The Red Wings will be competing in their first game since the 11<sup>th<\/sup>,\u00a0when they beat St. George\u2019s School 3-2.<\/p>\n<p>This tournament consists of eight teams, split into two sides of a bracket. If Williston wins its first game, it will\u00a0face the winner of\u00a0the Albany Academy vs. St. Sebastian\u2019s game. Should Williston be defeated by Rivers, then the Wildcats would be put into the consolation bracket and would\u00a0play the loser of Albany vs. St. Seb\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>To take home the championship\u00a0trophy, Williston will need to win three straight games.<\/p>\n<p>Before Thursday&#8217;s practice, Williston Head Coach Derek Cunha,\u00a0said of the tournament, \u201cThis can be a real unifying moment for our group. You guys are going to spend a lot of time together and it\u2019s fun to get away from campus, be in the hotel.\u201d He added, \u201cThis is an opportunity to, one, we hope we have a championship trophy, but that we\u2019re going to come together even more as a group.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I will be tweeting throughout all three games on the team\u2019s Twitter account (@WillistonHockey).
