He resided in Mt. Pleasant, SC, where he and his wife had moved in retirement.<br \/>\nHis career was with the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife. Most of it was spent at the southeast district office in Bournedale, but at the time of retirement, he was the Deputy Director in the state capital.<br \/>\nHis military service was long and included the position of ball turret gunner in a plane that was shot down over China in WW II in 1945, making him eligible for the Caterpillar Club. He joined the USAF reserve in 1948. He was commissioned in 1957, and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel from the Selective Service division.<br \/>\nBeing predeceased by his wife Elaine and daughter Martha Lanoue, he is survived by his daughter Anne Lee Schlotterbeck of Savannah, GA as well as three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.<br \/>\nThe best years of his life were spent fishing, scalloping, and raising a family on Cape Cod in the town of Bourne.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lewis Christian Schlotterbeck passed away at the age of 93 on October 26, 2017.
