Mr. Shepard was the victim of a hate crime that would soon become the focus of the entire nation\u2014he was killed because he was gay.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Four weeks later, members of the Tectonic Theater Project took what would be the first of six visits to Laramie. During the aftermath of Mr. Shepard\u2019s murder and the arrest and trial of the perpetrators, members of Tectonic conducted over 200 interviews with the citizens of the town. <em>The Laramie Project<\/em> is what resulted from those interviews.<\/p>\n<p>The play is a gripping theatrical collage that explores the depth of the human spirit. It does not provide its audience with easy answers; rather it forces us to ask the most challenging questions about who we are, what we believe in, and what kind of world we want to live in.<\/p>\n<p>Special Events:<\/p>\n<p>April 25, 27 and May 2-4 at 7pm.<br \/>\nPlease join us after these performances for talks with the cast, crew, and local LGBT scholars and activists. Extra tickets are not needed for these events.<\/p>\n<p>April 26 at 7:30<br \/>\nPlease join us at 6:15 for a pre-show talk and book signing* with author and activist Lesl\u00e9a Newman. A member of the Matthew Shepard Foundation&#8217;s Speaker&#8217;s Bureau, Newman is the author of over 60 books for adults, teens, and children. Her book <em>Heather Has Two Mommies<\/em> was the first for children depicting a positive image of a lesbian family.
