As Mr. Spearing \u00a0mentioned at a recent assembly, the 14th Annual Muji Muhammad 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament will be held on Sunday afternoon, February 22 at the Athletic Center.\u00a0 It has been a fun community event over the years, and I hope that many of you will participate this year.<\/p>\n
The following is information about the tournament, about signing up for the tournament, and about Muji 14 t-shirts:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The Muji 3-on-3 tournament is open to all in the Williston community.\u00a0 Here are the rules for teams: three players on a team; teams must be co-ed; no more than one faculty or staff member per team. It is a single-elimination tournament.\u00a0 Games are played to 11, \u201cstraight up,\u201d with alternating possessions.\u00a0 Seeding is done by a secret committee.\u00a0 Volunteer referees will referee the games.<\/p>\n
Note: in the past, there was a rule that there could not be more than one varsity basketball player on each team.\u00a0 This year, due to the tournament being held during the varsity teams\u2019 seasons, those players will not be participating.<\/p>\n
2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Sign up by sending me an email with your team members and your team name by Tuesday, February 17 at 10:00 p.m.\u00a0 The secret committee will meet at a secret time and location on Wednesday, February 18 to make up the bracket.\u00a0 They will also send out the bracket via email to the Williston community on Thursday, February 19.<\/p>\n
3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0If you would like to buy a Muji 14 t-shirt, you can either email me what size you want, or you can stop by my office on the English floor (#36) during a free period.\u00a0 I will have different sizes of shirts there for you to try on, starting next Monday.\u00a0 The first opportunity to order shirts will be next week, but I can put in a second order later if there is still demand.\u00a0 Cost is $12 per shirt, and you can pay cash or \u00a0pay with your card when you receive your shirt.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s shirt will be in the style of the Portland Trail Blazers.\u00a0 Why, you may ask?\u00a0 Because I promised (or did I lose a bet to?) Portland native and secret committee member, Emmett O\u2019Malley (I will send pictures of the shirt in another email).\u00a0 T-shirts are just for fun.\u00a0 You do not have to order one to play in the tournament, and you can order one and not play in the tournament.<\/p>\n
