Editor’s note: The following poem was read during Upper School Assembly on Wednesday, February 20.<\/em><\/p>\n

To a few factory buildings now used to mold minds
\nTo these teachers who give it their all every time
\nTo students who strive as no others have striven
\nAllow me to speak of your gift that keeps giving.
\nUnique stands our passion, diverse our pure purpose
\nCollected comprising a community of courage.<\/p>\n

Hot air blowing through white curtains on a summer morning,
\nI sleep and eat and play games, ignoring mom’s warnings,
\nthat I should instead do some chores;
\nbut it’s real nice to take a break every once in a while,
\nand get ready for the upcoming trial.<\/p>\n

From cool autumn mornings to dark winter nights
\nTirelessly working to achieve new heights.
\nThough it’s not always simple each attempt keeps us reaching,
\nStretching and hoping,
\nTo find a new answer, a reason, a meaning<\/p>\n

As the final days of the school year approach
\nWe will all buy our dresses and ties
\nsplashing in muddy puddles where snow used to be
\nReminds us that we are just past childhood
\nBut the books we read
\nThe opinions we form
\nAnd the world that awaits
\nAll promise a bright future.<\/p>\n
