{"id":314,"date":"2013-02-21T10:51:00","date_gmt":"2013-02-21T14:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/speeches\/?p=314"},"modified":"2013-02-21T10:51:00","modified_gmt":"2013-02-21T14:51:00","slug":"this-is-a-poem-of-by-and-for-williston","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/willistonblogs.com\/speeches\/2013\/02\/21\/this-is-a-poem-of-by-and-for-williston\/","title":{"rendered":"This is a poem of, by and for Williston"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Editor&#8217;s note: The following poem was read during Upper School Assembly on Wednesday, February 20.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>To a few factory buildings now used to mold minds<br \/>\nTo these teachers who give it their all every time<br \/>\nTo students who strive as no others have striven<br \/>\nAllow me to speak of your gift that keeps giving.<br \/>\nUnique stands our passion, diverse our pure purpose<br \/>\nCollected comprising a community of courage.<\/p>\n<p>Hot air blowing through white curtains on a summer morning,<br \/>\nI sleep and eat and play games, ignoring mom&#8217;s warnings,<br \/>\nthat I should instead do some chores;<br \/>\nbut it&#8217;s real nice to take a break every once in a while,<br \/>\nand get ready for the upcoming trial.<\/p>\n<p>From cool autumn mornings to dark winter nights<br \/>\nTirelessly working to achieve new heights.<br \/>\nThough it&#8217;s not always simple each attempt keeps us reaching,<br \/>\nStretching and hoping,<br \/>\nTo find a new answer, a reason, a meaning<\/p>\n<p>As the final days of the school year approach<br \/>\nWe will all buy our dresses and ties<br \/>\nsplashing in muddy puddles where snow used to be<br \/>\nReminds us that we are just past childhood<br \/>\nBut the books we read<br \/>\nThe opinions we form<br \/>\nAnd the world that awaits<br \/>\nAll promise a bright future.<\/p>\n<p>By Evan Jacobson, Jiwon Lee, Mika Chmielewski, and Laura McCullagh<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Editor&#8217;s note: The following poem was read during Upper School Assembly on Wednesday, February 20.
