Leading Edge Thinker Julius Pryor to Present the 174th Convocation Keynote

A leading edge thinker, strategic consultant, and author will present the keynote for Williston Northampton School’s 174th Convocation ceremony on Friday, September 12, 2014.

Julius Pryor III ’73, general managing partner of JPryorGroup LLC and author of Thriving in a Disruptive World, will speak about the six concepts he developed to help navigate the 21st century.

Mr. Pryor has worked as the vice president of global diversity for Coca-Cola Enterprises and Johnson & Johnson, and as the director of diversity strategies for Russell Corporation. For 26 years, he served as a captain and surface warfare officer in the U.S. Navy, where he held operational leadership roles in Pacific and Atlantic Fleets at the shipboard and joint staff level. He graduated from Morehouse College.

Williston’s Convocation, which marks the official opening of school, will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the Quad in front of the Reed Campus Center with a procession of faculty and special guests.

Following the ceremony, each class will gather for special dinners. The fall senior dinner will be held at the Birch Dining Commons at 6:15 p.m. with keynote speaker Ezra Barnehama ’03. Mr. Barnehama is the vice president of Silicon Valley Bank, a commercial bank for companies in the technology, life science, venture capital, private equity, and premium wine industries.

Mr. Barnehama earned his BA in management from Clark University and his MBA in finance and global business from Clark’s Graduate School of Management. Before Silicon Valley Bank, he worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance and Commerce Bank & Trust Company.

Following Convocation, all other upperclassmen will gather by grade for dinner at 6:15 p.m. Ninth graders will meet in the Dodge Room, sophomores will meet in the upper lobby of the Athletic Center, and juniors will meet in the lower level of the StuBop.
