New Releases from Country Singer Gearing ’09

Country music singer Ashley Gearing ’09 has a new single, “Boomerang,” and you can listen to it here. She said the single will be available on iTunes in March and a new album will follow later this year.

Cortina ’09 Named to MSN’s “Latinos to Watch” List

Rafael Cortina ’09 was named to MSN Latinzine’s “10 Latinos to Watch in 2014” list. At age 22, Mr. Cortina won a Student Academy Award for Bottled Up, a film he produced as a senior at Occidental College.

Mr. Cortina was profiled in the latest edition of the Bulletin. His article, and the rest of the magazine, can be read online here.

Among others named to the list were GLEE actress Naya Rivera and Julian Castro, the mayor of San Antonio, TX.

Cortina ’09 Up for Student Academy Award

The finalists for the 2013 Student Academy Awards competition were recently announced and among the 47 films selected was “Bottled Up,” by Rafael Cortina (Occidental College). According to a press release from the  Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Student Academy Awards, “winners will be brought to Los Angeles for a week of industry activities and social events that will culminate in the awards ceremony on Saturday, June 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.”
