Williston Recognizes AP Scholars

AP Scholars were honored at an assembly on September 15.

Williston offers many Advanced Placement courses (see our course catalogue for a full listing). At a recent assembly, Academic Dean Greg Tuleja announced the names of students who were designated AP Scholars by the College Board, which administers the tests.

From last year’s graduating class of 2017, 59 students were honored on one of four categories.

Among current juniors and seniors, 18 have been recognized for strong performance on last year’s AP exams.

The title “AP Scholar” was granted to these students with scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP tests:

  • Papa-Sam Essuman
  • Anabelle Farnham
  • Timothy Fay
  • Madison Fulcher-Melendy
  • William Lane
  • Sabrina Liew
  • Kelly Moncada
  • Matthew Nguyen
  • Lydia Pollard
  • Sophia Schaefer
  • Xavier Thibault
  • Glede Wang
  • Sophie Weed
  • Anna “Trixie” Willems

Recognition as an “AP Scholar with Honor” was granted to one student who received an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of those exams.

  • Ana Weed

“AP Scholar with Distinction” is awarded to students who receive an average of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of those exams.

  • Josh Calianos
  • Shirley Zhou

“National AP Scholar” is granted to students who earn an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of those exams.

  • Derrick Zhao
