Athletes of the Week – January 12th

atkinsSam Atkins ‘15

Sam had a great weekend for the varsity wrestling team this past weekend as the Wildcats traveled to Pomfret to compete in their first tri-match since the winter break. Sam had perfect 3-0 record on the day. In the Pomfret match Sam’s leadership, competitiveness, and team first mentality was evident as he chose to wrestle up a weight class, eventually pinning his opponent and winning the dual meet for Williston.

Hannah King ‘15

Hannah’s play on Saturday for the girls’ varsity squash team made the crucial difference in the team’s 4-3 win over Ethel Walker School.  Hannah and her opponent played 95 points.  Hannah won in exciting fashion winning the last two points to take the fifth game 11-9, insuring a Wildcat team victory. Hannah’s success is due to her tremendous work ethic. Hannah cares about learning and responds well to coaching, her attitude sets a great example for the younger girls on the team.

Oscar DeFrancis ‘20

Oscar has had a spectacular year for the jv wrestling team. As a 7th grader he has compiled an 8-0 record with some of those wins coming with the varsity team. Oscar has 5 pins and 3 wins by points. As the season has progressed Oscar has developed into a natural leader on the team, helping his fellow teammates learn new moves and motivating and cheering them on during their own matches. Oscar’s future as a Wildcat wrestler is very bright.
