When Caitlin Keefe ’17 was a second grader, her father James Keefe, initiated her into the game of lacrosse by handing her an “old cut-down guy’s stick,” and started coaching her. The early intervention payed off, and on November 16, Caitlin signed a letter of intent to play lacrosse for Bentley University.

Her coach, Jennifer Fulcher, describes Caitlin a fearless and tough competitor and a creative and impeccable scorer. “Her shot is strong and accurate and she is dangerous around the cage even under high defensive pressure,” Fulcher said.

Caitlin, who plays the attack position, said she enjoys what the sport brings out in her. “I love that hard work and mental toughness that comes with being a lacrosse player,” she said. “In order to be the best, you have to constantly test and push your limits. Lacrosse teaches you how to be unselfish and work as part of a team. Aside from that I think lacrosse is extremely fun.”

Beginning in third grade, Caitlin played for the Northampton Youth Lacrosse program. She moved to the Northampton High School team as an eighth grader and came to Williston as a sophomore, where she has excelled on and off the field. Out of school, she plays club lacrosse at Indoor Action Sports and Lax Plus Lacrosse Club. Caitlin also sings in the chorus and volunteers for cancer walk-a-thons.

Father James Keefe said her lacrosse skills are just the tip of the iceberg of Caitlin’s strengths. “She is a team player and will do what it takes to make her team successful,” he said. “She doesn’t need to be the center of attention and has a great sense of humor. Off the field she works very hard at school to be successful. She is a loyal kid and a role model.”
