McLaughlin ’12 Earns Highest Boy Scout Honor
During his induction as an Eagle Scout in a recent ceremony at the Log Cabin in Easthampton, Walter McLaughlin recalled the hot summer days, the sound of Taps, and the loyal friends that are the hallmarks of Boy Scout life.
A member of Troop 171 out of Hampden, MA, McLaughlin was sponsored by Hampden Engineering President John M. Flynn.
“We’ve all taken something different from being in scouting, but I myself have taken three things,” McLaughlin said after the ceremony. “The friends I’ve made, because scouts are trustworthy and loyal, the best qualities of a friend; summer camp, the hot days and Camp Moses and I always loved the sound of Taps before going to sleep; and the respect you gain as an Eagle Scout.”
