Field Hockey, Boys Soccer Advance

Williston’s field hockey and boys soccer teams advanced to the semi-finals in NEPSAC tournaments, while the girls soccer lost a hard-fought 1-0 decision to the Groton School in a quarterfinal game.

describe the imageField hockey scored a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over visiting Miss Porter’s School. Porters took a 1-0 lead just 10 minutes into the game and held Williston scoreless until the Wildcats broke through with 17 minutes remaining on a goal by senior Jill Dahrooge (assist to Bridget Instrum ’12). Williston had a host of chances late in regulation but could not beat Christen Safko, the Porter’s keeper. Just two minutes into overtime, Bridget Instrum scored the game winner on a hard shot from the left side of the goal. Williston will play 2nd seeded Middlesex, who beat BB&N 4-1. The game will be played at Phillips Andover at 2:00pm on Saturday.

DSC 0253bzdelBoys soccer played an outstanding game as the 7th seeded Wildcats knocked off 2nd seeded Noble & Greenough on their home pitch. The games lone goal was scored by junior Mark Richards in the last minute of the first half. Williston was able to hold off Nobles in a hard fought second half to secure the victory. The Wildcats will play 3rd seeded Brooks, who defeated Suffield 1-0. The game will be at Brooks School in Andover at 2:00pm.
