Athlete of Week- 9/28/16

Austin Ryan ’17

Austin made a huge contribution on both sides of the ball to help the Wildcats rally from a 28-7 deficit on Saturday at Kent. Offensively, Austin finished with eight catches for 102 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, his six solo tackles and five assisted tackles lead the team as he was all over the field from his safety position. Austin showed tremendous physical and mental toughness in leading the team to this big comeback.

Karen Janocha ’19

Karen has showed great leadership on the court for the JV girls volleyball team so far this season. Her welcoming presence to our new players during the first few days of practice gave the team the opportunity to open on a very comfortable note. Additionally, she has shown great composure on the court. Her steady demeanor shows our team that no matter the situation, it is important to stay positive and keep persevering. Karen has been a terrific leader so far for the team.

Noah DeVos ’17

Senior co-captain Noah DeVos has had a terrific season thus far this season for the varsity water polo team.  This past week he notched 15 saves in a win on Wednesday over Canterbury and 24 saves in a double header on Saturday against Hopkins and Exeter. He has been an inspirational leader both in and out of the pool by both encouraging his teammates, both returning and new.

Caroline Channell ’18

Caroline has been a strong asset to the girls varsity field hockey team thus far this season. Playing the challenging left side, a new defensive position for her, Caroline has done a terrific job shutting down her opponents and redistributing the ball. Caroline also added to the team’s success when she had a beautiful assist this past Saturday in the team’s convincing win over Kingswood-Oxford.

Finley MacDonald ’20

Finley had a great start to the season for the boys JV boys soccer team as they competed against Cushing last Wednesday. Playing forward, Finley provided a relentless attack for the Wildcats. He also contributed the team’s only goal to prevent a shutout. Overall, Finley has been a tremendous team player both in practices and games thus far this season.

Jordyn Meunier ’21

Jordyn has been a big part of the JV girls soccer first two wins of the season. She has been an offensive catalyst for the Wildcats as she scored in both games and helped create additional opportunities for her teammates. In a 3-1 win against Bement last Wednesday, she was key to the team’s comeback when she scored on a rebound.  In a 3-0 win against Kingswood-Oxford Saturday, she had a hand in every goal scored. Jordyn has been crucial to the team’s early season success.

Ana Weed ’18

Ana has been a strong presence at midfield for the girls varsity soccer team thus far this season. She works very hard to control the midfield both defensively and offensively. Ana has been a terrific addition to the Wildcats and was an integral part of the team’s win over Williams and thrilling 0-0 tie against rival Kingswood-Oxford.
