Spencer Danforth ’17 – Boys Varsity Basketball

Spencer continues his excellent play this season for varsity basketball.   This past week, he averaged 20 points a game in three wins over Canterbury, Deerfield and Hotchkiss.  While his consistent play on offense has been critical to the team’s success, it has been his efforts on the defensive end of the court that has been truly exceptional.   In Saturday’s win over Hotchkiss, he held their high scorer who came in averaging well over 20 points to 3 points.  Spencer’s tenacity, work ethic and commitment to being a complete player has been a huge part of the team’s recent success.

Insoo Kang ‘18 – Boys JV Basketball

Insoo has had a great season thus far for the Wildcats. On Saturday he had 15 points and scored the first 8 points in overtime in the team’s 61 – 58 win at Deerfield. He has shot the ball very well recently and made four 3 pointers in Saturday’s win. He is a consistently hard worker and leads by example both on and off the floor for the Wildcats!

Maura Holden ’19 – Girls Varsity Hockey

Maura has been a big part of the team’s success this season. She scored the game winner on Saturday and chipped in another beautiful goal in the team’s 4-0 win against Hotchkiss.  In addition to being a great teammate, Maura has a tireless work ethic and is one of the best forecheckers on the squad due to her tremendous speed.  Maura has been a strong contributor in all three zones and has been an offensive threat all season.

Cam Ward ’17 – Boys JV Hockey

As a co-captain, Cam leads by example. His focus and determination in both practices and games make him an excellent role model for his teammates. As a player, Cam consistently puts forth his best effort, and always treats his teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials with the utmost respect. His dedication and leadership is valued and respected by all.

Sophia Schaefer ’18 – Girls JV Hockey

Sophia currently leads the Wildcats with 11 points (6 goals and 5 assists).  Sophia is a team player and a playmaker who is always looking for opportunities to involve her teammates in scoring opportunities.  When requested, she will step up and play any position her team needs her to play, and sets an example with her positive attitude and work ethic.  In a recent 4-1 win over NMH, Sophia assisted on three of the four goals that were scored. Sophia will continue to be a big part of the team’s success for the remainder of the season.

Maxwell Edwards ‘22- Boys Fourths Basketball

After a slow first half against MacDuffie Wednesday, Maxwell led the way with his defensive efforts and intensity. He forced several key turnovers which led to easy fast break points for his teammates. In addition to his defensive play, Max scored six crucial points during a comeback. Max always plays with a big heart and provides a positive example for the rest of the athletes on the team.

Matthew Weinstein ’22 – Boys Varsity Skiing

Matthew finished 16th out of 44 in Wednesday’s MISL Giant Slalom at Berkshire East. This is a phenomenal showing for a 7th grader as the competition is mostly against top Class A high school skiers. Matthew is currently in 15th overall in the league and it looks like he could be headed to the NEPSAC Championships with the team in a few weeks. Matthew’s work ethic is very strong and he works hard to better himself and his team.

Xander Rogers ’18 – Boys Varsity Hockey

Xander was instrumental in securing two huge victories in goal for the Wildcats last week. On Wednesday, in the teams’ 2-1 overtime win against Millbrook he made 18 of 19 save attempts. Again on Saturday, Xander showed up in a big way as he secured a shutout in a 1-0 blanking of Brunswick.  These were the 4th and 5th wins for Rogers on the season.

Sarah Marion ‘17 – Girls Varsity Basketball

Sarah had two great games this past week for the Wildcats. On Wednesday she put up 11 assists against Westminster, fueling some excellent team play, along with 5 rebounds. Again on Friday, against WMA, she put up 13 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, and showed strong leadership on the court. Sarah has been a leader on and off the court for the Wildcats this season. Her work ethic and gutty play provide excellent examples to everyone on the team.

Ruby McElhone-Yates ’21 – Girls JV Squash

Ruby has made tremendous progress over the season and is ready for every challenge. She rallies hard in all matches. She learns from each game, listens to feedback, and then applies it, with successful results. She won her match against Suffield, helping the team score rise to 3-4. Ruby consistently plays her best and doesn’t give up, which means she often plays 4 games or pushes each game past the 11 point norm. This past Saturday against Choate, she played a total of seven games, playing two different girls and winning one of her matches. Ruby consistently displays great sportsmanship with her teammates and opponents.

Zack Robbins ’17 – Boys Varsity Squash

Zach has been a strong leader for the Wildcats all season. In his fifth five set match of the year, he took a very determined opponent the distance and got the victory in the final set. He was the player of the match for the fourth time this season! The team will continue to look to Zach for his competitiveness and his determination for the rest of the season.\

Chelsea Clark ‘19 – Girls JV Basketball

Chelsea is having an outstanding season for the Lady Wildcats.  She is an offensive weapon as she leads the team in scoring with 66 points on the season. In addition to her outstanding offensive play, she plays tenacious defense and is one of the squad’s best rebounders.  Against Cushing, Chelsea scored 7 points in an 11-6 win over the Penguins. More recently, she scored 16 of the team’s 18 points in a loss to Wilbraham and Monson. Chelsea is a fantastic role model for the younger girls on the squad as she consistently exemplifies fair play and a positive attitude.

Oscar DeFrancis ‘20 – Boys Thirds Basketball

Oscar gets better every single day for the Wildcats. He has been consistently one of the hardest working players on the team and is always a great teammate. He has been very productive for the team in all aspects of play on both ends of the floor. Not only has his play been stellar but he always demonstrates fantastic sportsmanship in every game and practice.
