Williston Fields Ultimate Frisbee Club

Starting in the summer of 1968 Ultimate Frisbee began gaining a footing as colleges and high schools formed teams. By 1979, the Ultimate Players Association had been formed to govern the sport.  Now there are more than 35,000 members of USA Ultimate.

This spring, Williston Northampton created its first Ultimate club team. Led by coaches Paul Rutherford, a science teacher, and Ben Thompson, director of psychological counseling services, the team holds practices twice a week and competes against local high schools. Continue reading

Varsity Lacrosse Coach Jen Fulcher and her Top-Ranked Wildcats

The “Fulcher Impact”
Over the past six seasons, under the humor and guidance of Coach Jen Fulcher, the Williston Northampton girl’s varsity lacrosse team have  maintained a 65-5-1 record, gone undefeated during both the 2008 and 2009 seasons, and rose, according to LaxPower, from #42 to as high as the #2 girl’s prep team in New England.

Prioritize, Analyze, Attack: 3 Girls Varsity Lacrosse Players Receive Honors

At the end of the spring 2012 season, three members of the Williston Northampton girls varsity lacrosse team—Bridget Instrum ’12 of Granby, MA; Katie Cavanaugh ’12 of South Hadley, MA; and Karly Simpson ’13 of South Hadley, MA—were honored by US Lacrosse.

The title ‘All-American’ is a designation used to honor high-school lacrosse players, both on and off the field, by US Lacrosse, a national sports organization.  US Lacrosse annually awards the title of All-American or Academic All-American to a group of athletes who have been nominated by their coaches.
