Athletes of the Week – April 18th

In his first year as a varsity player, Walter McLaughlin ‘12 is off to a solid start to the season having tallied 128 minutes with 31 saves with a season .543 save percentage. In his first full lacrosse game against Gunnery Walter was a driving force and inspiration between the pipes for the Wildcats.  He made 18 saves on 28 shots, having a 64 save percentage for the game.

A third year starter for girl’s water polo, freshman Maddy Stern scored 5 goals against Hotchkiss in the team’s 20-9 victory over the Bearcats. Maddy plays the “hole” position, which is the most demanding in the game.

Adam Krol ‘14
Freshman Adam Krol, pitched a gem of a game against Deerfield Academy last Saturday for the JV baseball team.  Adam pitched a complete game, striking out 12 Big Green hitters while scattering 5 hits and 3 earned runs in Williston’s 6-5 victory. He kept a powerful lineup off balance all day and was vital to the team’s first win.

NFHCA Honors Four Seniors

The Williston Northampton School is proud to announce that four Williston seniors have been named to the 2010 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) High School National Academic Squad. The National Academic Squad program recognizes high school seniors playing field hockey who have achieved a cumulative, unweighted GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0 or the equivalent through the first quarter of the 2010-11 school year. Athletes of the Week – February 21st

Tony Alvarez ‘11
Tony just completed his Williston wrestling career by competing at the National Tournament at Lehigh University. The previous week Tony finished in fifth place in his weight class at the New England Tournament. Throughout his career Tony has been a positive leader and role model on the wrestling team.

Lindsey Bannish ‘11

As a co-captain Lindsey just finished a very successful career on the girls ski team. She is always a positive contributor to the team both on and off the slopes. Lindsey ended the season as Williston’s top finisher in the Mt. Institute Ski League.

Jeffrey Lin ‘13
Jeff has been working hard and improving his game all season as a member of the boys jv basketball team. On Saturday he contributed 10 points and also had several steals and rebounds in the team’s win over Kingswood-Oxford.

Athletes of the Week – February 14th

Lindsey Dirats ‘11
Co-captain Lindsey has enjoyed a very successful season on the girls ski team. She recently finished in third place in the Giant Slalom at the New England Championships to help Williston to a 3rd place finish overall.

 

Alex “Tank” Paolo ‘12
Alex is currently leading the boys varsity hockey team in scoring with 16 goals and 7 assists on the season. He recently scored the game winning goal in the team’s 3-2 win over Canterbury and scored twice in the team’s 7-3 victory over Loomis.

Rosie Lacas ‘14
Rosie has done a great job as the goaltender for the girls jv hockey team. She strapped on the pads for the first time early in the season and has rapidly become one of the top jv goalies in the league. Last week she made 20 saves in a close loss to Deerfield and made 12 saves in the team’s 7-3 win over NMH.

Athletes of the Week – January 31st

Meghann Treacy ‘11
Meghann had an outstanding week for the girls varsity hockey team.  She put up 29 saves for the Wildcats in a shutout victory over Hotchkiss, the first win over them in 14 years.  She then followed that up with another great performance against Westminster with 28 saves.  She has been having a tremendous season thus far and is a huge piece to the success of the team.

Addison Morse ‘12
Addison began the Boys Varsity Squash season at the #7 spot, but with a few wins and hard work he moved himself up to #6.  He had as good a start as you can, winning his first 6 matches of the season, and his game record up to last week was a remarkable 18-3.  Addison’s hard work in practice and off the court has helped him improve himself and the team overall this past season.

James Borden ‘14
James has helped the JV boys ski team to a first place in league standings.  He is currently ranked 5th out of 31 skiers in the league, and with his aggressive style and eagerness to improve he has proven to be a key reason why the JV team has had such success this season.

Athletes of the Week – January 17th

Marisa Roth ‘11
Marisa had a great week for the Wildcats.  Last week she tallied two assists in the team’s 6-0 win over Gunnery. Marisa then scored two goals in the team’s 6-1 win over Kingswood, and followed that performance up with 2 goals and an assist in the 4-1 victory over Kent, giving her a tally of 7 points for the Wildcats in one week.

Ryan Palumbo ‘11
Ryan has been the catalyst for the boys’ varsity basketball team this season averaging 17.5 points per game.  During a tough stretch this week against Salisbury and Avon, Ryan posted big numbers for the Wildcats with 17 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 4 steals against Salisbury; and then going for 17 points, 11 assists and 6 steals against Avon.  Ryan always plays with tenacity on both ends of the floor.

Evan Cavanaugh ‘15
Evan had a very strong performance in the boys’ 4th team basketball game this past weekend against Eaglebrook.  Evan scored 26 of Williston’s 47 points in the team’s 47-44 victory.  Look for big things to come from Evan and the Wildcats.

Athletes of the Week – January 3rd

Kathryn Tomaselli ‘12
Kathryn had a great week for the Wildcats with hat tricks in two games against Kents Hill and the Connecticut Polar Bears. She also chipped in with a goal and two assists against Tabor on Saturday.  Kathryn is always a hard worker and has been a significant contributor to the team both on and off the ice.

 

 

Walter McLaughlin ‘12
Walter has quietly gone 7-1 over his last 8 matches for the varsity wrestling team.  Walter performed very well for the Wildcats during the Doug Parker Tournament, including being the team’s highest placer at the tournament (5th) despite wrestling up a weight class at 285lbs.  He is a hard worker and a great example to all the guys on the team.

Ledell Robinson ‘14
Ledell led the thirds boys’ basketball team in their opening game at Berkshire. Despite the team’s loss Ledell contributed 10 points and 8 rebounds.  His heady play and leadership have been instrumental to the team’s efforts thus far.
