Girls Hockey Falls in Overtime in Semi-Finals

DSC 0173starzykThe girls’ hockey team’s season ended with a 2-1 loss in overtime to Lawrence Academy on Saturday evening in the semi-final round of the NEPSAC Tournament. After a scoreless first two periods, Lawrence took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Jaclyn Gordon at the 9:58 mark. Williston fought back to tie the game with 5:41 remaining on a goal by Alex Starzyk ’13 with assists going to Sam Fallon ’12 and Alicia Barry ’14. Continue reading

Athletes of the Week Feb. 13th

Kathryn has been an outstanding leader and consistent contributor for the girls’ hockey team. Last week in the team’s game against Kimball Union Kathryn scored 2 goals and 3 assists in the team’s 5-2 win. During that game she scored the 100th point of her career becoming only the second girl to reach that milestone in the program’s history.

Tim Keegan ‘13
A goalkeeper for the boys’ varsity hockey team, Tim has been instrumental to the team’s success during the past two weeks. Tim recently averaged 30 saves per game as the team beat Milbrook 2-1, Loomis 6-2, and tied Northfield Mt. Hermon 3-3.

Nick Hill ‘17
Nick made an incredible comeback in his match against Eaglebrook last week to win in the fifth game. Nick has shown a tremendous amount of perseverance in his matches throughout the season, while displaying positive energy and consistency in his leadership.

Athletes of the Week – Jan. 30th

David has been playing solid squash for the boys varsity team this season sporting a team best 6-2 record. Last week he defeated opponents from Hotchkiss and Suffield. David has a great work ethic and is a great teammate both on and off the court.

Miranda has been outstanding in goal for the girls varsity hockey team this season. Last Wednesday she earned a shutout in the team’s 4-0 home victory over a solid Taft squad.

 

Ben Sarat ‘14
Last week Ben’s positive energy and clutch play helped the boys’ third basketball team erase a 10 point deficit against Suffield in an exciting comeback win. Ben scored 10 points with 5 rebounds and 2 assists in the game.

Athletes of the Week – Jan. 16th

Ole had a big week for the boys’ varsity hockey team scoring 2 goals and 2 assists in the team’s  6-1 win over Worcester, and another clutch goal in a close game against Berkshire. Ole is always a positive force for the team and his consistent effort has made him an important contributor to the team’s recent success.

Alicia has been playing very well for the girls’ varsity hockey team. She is a constant threat both defensively and offensively for the team. Last week Alicia scored 3 goals in the team’s wins over Berkshire and Gunnery. Alicia is positive and hardworking each day, which has helped the team get off to a solid start to the season.

 

Tiger Liu ‘14
Tiger has been a consistent contributor for the boys’ third basketball team. Last week Tiger scored 18 points with 16 rebounds in the team’s win against Berkshire and then followed that with 21 points to go along with 18 rebounds in the team’s win over Bement. His aggressive play and leadership have been critical to the teams 4-0 start to the season.

Athletes of the Week – January 31st

Meghann Treacy ‘11
Meghann had an outstanding week for the girls varsity hockey team.  She put up 29 saves for the Wildcats in a shutout victory over Hotchkiss, the first win over them in 14 years.  She then followed that up with another great performance against Westminster with 28 saves.  She has been having a tremendous season thus far and is a huge piece to the success of the team.

Addison Morse ‘12
Addison began the Boys Varsity Squash season at the #7 spot, but with a few wins and hard work he moved himself up to #6.  He had as good a start as you can, winning his first 6 matches of the season, and his game record up to last week was a remarkable 18-3.  Addison’s hard work in practice and off the court has helped him improve himself and the team overall this past season.

James Borden ‘14
James has helped the JV boys ski team to a first place in league standings.  He is currently ranked 5th out of 31 skiers in the league, and with his aggressive style and eagerness to improve he has proven to be a key reason why the JV team has had such success this season.

Athletes of the Week – January 3rd

Kathryn Tomaselli ‘12
Kathryn had a great week for the Wildcats with hat tricks in two games against Kents Hill and the Connecticut Polar Bears. She also chipped in with a goal and two assists against Tabor on Saturday.  Kathryn is always a hard worker and has been a significant contributor to the team both on and off the ice.

 

 

Walter McLaughlin ‘12
Walter has quietly gone 7-1 over his last 8 matches for the varsity wrestling team.  Walter performed very well for the Wildcats during the Doug Parker Tournament, including being the team’s highest placer at the tournament (5th) despite wrestling up a weight class at 285lbs.  He is a hard worker and a great example to all the guys on the team.

Ledell Robinson ‘14
Ledell led the thirds boys’ basketball team in their opening game at Berkshire. Despite the team’s loss Ledell contributed 10 points and 8 rebounds.  His heady play and leadership have been instrumental to the team’s efforts thus far.
