Molly Lieberman ’06 in Connect Savannah

Molly Lieberman ’06 has won this year’s “One Small Voice” award from the Savannah Children’s Choir, according to the online publication Connect Savannah.

The article described how Ms. Lieberman developed an innovate program called “Loop it up Savannah” that helps disadvantaged youth find their voices through artistic expression.

Ms. Lieberman’s teaches the basics of knitting and art. According to the Savannah Children’s Choir, Ms. Lieberman “created a special program which linked children with senior citizens and SCAD ESL (English as a second language) students to create quilts that represented the “beloved community” experience.  Another program taught children how to knit caps to help local kids keep warm in the winter.”

Started in 2007, the “One Small Voice” award recognizes individuals making a difference in the lives of children.

Jim Brennan ’85 Named BusinessWest’s Top Entrepreneur for 2012

Jim Brennan ’85 was recently featured in the BusinessWest article “Healthy Growth Pattern” on January 15, 2013. BusinessWest, the business journal of Western Massachusetts, named Brennan and business partner Rick Crews the top entrepreneurs for 2012.

Crews and Brennan are master franchisees of the regional branch of Doctors Express, a national chain of urgent-care centers.

According to the article, the partners now have locations in Springfield, West Springfield, and the Greater Boston area, with a goal of 30 locations in the next two or three years.

According to the article, the two were named the year’s top entrepreneurs due to “The speed and efficiency with which Crews and Brennan have taken the Doctors Express brand across the state, and for the aggressive yet calculated way in which they carried out the plan they outlined”.

Matt Dupont ’12 in Smart Hockey Magazine

Matt Dupont ’12 was recently featured in the British Columbia Hockey League publication, Smart Hockey Magazine, where he was hailed for his rare combination of athletic and academic excellence.

Dupont, from Milton, Ont., is enrolled at Powell River campus of Vancouver Island University and is a first year forward for the Powell River Kings.

In the article, Dupont describes his experience at The Williston Northampton School as
“good hockey with high competition and good players. It gave me the confidence and ability to move on to the next level.”

Gbolie ‘02 on “Making Mr. Right”

Arwin Gbolie ‘02 will be on one of the cast members in the new VH1 reality dating series: “Making Mr. Right.” According to the VH1 press release, in the series “three women will pose as matchmakers and offer their services to fourteen men. While the women pretend to find the men suitable dates, they’re actually sizing them up to see which one they’re actually most compatible with, under the guidance of real matchmaking expert April Beyer.” The series premieres January 6th at 9 p.m. ET/PT on VH1.
