Williston, seeded seventh, entered the game with a 15-9-3 record. Second-seeded Winchendon  sported a 28-1-1 record. The teams had played twice during the regular season and the Wapiti had edged the Wildcats 2-1 and 2-0.

Williston came out of the gates on fire, scoring twice in the first six minutes on goals by Kathryn Tomaselli and Sam Fallon (assisted by Sarah Wilkie and Maddie Jerolman).

Sydney Belinskas was outstanding in goal and turned Winchendon away at every opportunity. Williston brought a 2-0 lead into the second period. Tomaselli tallied her second of the day (assisted by Alex Starzyk) to give the Wildcats a three goal edge.

In the third period, Williston poured it on and scored three more times. First Tomaselli completed a hat trick to put the ‘Cats up by four. That goal was followed quickly by a goal by Alex Starzyk (assist to Laura Aptowitz). Christina Zalewski then rounded out the scoring on a nice individual effort.

Williston’s offensive outburst was impressive considering Winchendon had not allowed more than three goals in any game this year.
